New ship: Panther Clipper

By the way, how is all that money, FD?
Or that boycott going?

Well, at least it can launch Prospectors without them getting smashed on the hull. (y)

Bit disappointed that both of the large hardpoints are line astern, underneath the ship.
Not ideal for fitting large defensive turret weapons, but not the end of the world.
At the moment I've got a gimballed MC & Beam in the large slots, filled up the medium slots with mining lasers and stuck frag' turrets in the small slots.
Very little engineering so far but it seems to do okay at making things like Cobras and Asps go away.

Especially given that an 8C bi-weave gives me 3000mj of shield and I don't have to worry about being mass-locked.

+EDIT+

Oh, I meant to say...

I really try to be positive but the "ship kit" for the PC2 is about the most low-effort, phoned-in waste of Arx I've seen in-game.
It consists of, basically, a spoiler (because of course it does), an antenna pylon for the nose and, literally, half a dozen flat winglets.

Looking forward to seeing the proper ship-kit, when it, inevitably, arrives in a couple of weeks.
FDev should really be ashamed of themselves for producing such a half-baked item, especially given the evelated price of the PC2.
Leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth on what should be a memorable day for ED. 😟

They are practically begging you to put two large plasma there. Nice convergence and the closest thing you can do to match the MK I from the previous game. And that powerplant is plenty for that. I've looked at a beams/shock cannons build and could run that off a size 7 plant without having to overcharge it.

My current Panther CLipper MK II:
  • Light Weight Alloy G5 Heavy Duty
  • 3A Power Plant
  • 8D Thrusters G5 Dirty Drive + Drag Driver
  • 7A FSD SCO Pre-Eng + Mass Manager
  • 5D Life Support G5 Light Weight
  • 3D Power Distro Pre-Eng
  • 5D Sensor G5 Light Weight
  • 1232 ton of cargo, no FSD Booster

Normal Space Boost (full of 1232 tons of cargo):

That’s an awful lot of cargo to be hauling around in a cardboard box..

Could a proud new parent go to the trouble of listing the loadout of the Stellar version for us?

(If Stellar includes enough modules that I'll keep, it might be worth it to me to lower the rebuy cost of auto-dock failures, but I suspect I'll be replacing almost all the modules with better ones in which case there might be little advantage over getting the basic ship unlock)

After rewiewing the coriolis stats, I'm tempted to use 8D dirty drag thrusters.

Anyone already tested that? Less power draw, less cost, only 20 m/s speed loss.

Same thing with the Cutter.
I've always ran my cargo Cutter with 8D thrusters.
20m/sec slower (no-boost) but it means you can fit a smaller PP and PD, which makes a significant difference to range.

I have a "rule" that I always fit A-rated thrusters to mining ships to maximise agility so my PC2 has 8As but if/when I build one for cargo-hauling it'll have 8Ds. (y)
