DLC21 Speculation

  1. Tropical house 🌟 this is probably the biggest role they can fill, that really no other bird in game can. At least to all the tropical houses I have visited, nearly all of them had tropical duck species. Very common mixed habitat animals. Everything from the whistling ducks, to a teal, the mandarin duck, to an African Pygmy goose can fill this role.
  2. Petting Zoo, same as the chicken. A Muscovy Duck, or domestic duck breed, can add a little extra something to the petting zoo area.
  3. Finally, as you said, filling in Wild spaces like the mute swan.
Don't forget the disappearing but still present duck ponds AND the endangered ducks in their own aviaries... my babies.....

TBH, I wish there aren't any more DLCs, then maybe I can finally build my all-animal zoo without having to start over again and again.
On the other hand, I just can't believe that in PZ1, my absolute favorite game (even more than Pokemon, and that's a real call), there's no Walrus, my GOAT, my beloved, my most wanted animal since release. Every zoo game has a Walrus, why Frontier, why only, Planet Zoo is my life, why are you doing this to me?! 😢
Really, I feel like I wrote this (your) comment while sleeping. We're 100% on the same page. I've been planning an all-animal zoo (+mods) for months now, if not years, waiting patiently for the game to end so I can use all the mods I want without being scared of them disappearing or becoming incompatible. I'm still happy everytime a new pack is released though.
For the walrus, I think my profile picture speaks for itself.

they really have no news to share so im not surprised at best we will get a quick comment about yes to future dlc which making a whole social media announcement to tune it just to be told to tune in would seem misleading.
Don't They Also Have The New Bundle To Talk About?

I still believe we won't get any more DLCs but of course I'd love to be wrong here :D

Imagine we'd really get a bird pack. There would be plenty of options for birds which don't require flying animations. A ground bird pack would boost our roster a lot without taking PZ2 the (assumed) big seling point fyling birds away.
I think this roster would please a lot of people:
1. Secretary bird (mascot) - personally I would not necessarily need it (I'd prefer a marabou stork or sth else) but it's probably the most requested bird of the community and a unique bird of prey
2. Grey crowned crane - a second crane is necessary imo, very striking and common in zoos
3. Hawaiian goose/Nene - maybe an oddball but great conservation success story and therefore belongs in a zoo game imo, not uncommon in zoos and gives representation for a totally new area plus we need more waterfowl
4. Great white pelican - do I have to say more? A pelican is mandatory and this is the most popular and common one
5. Golden pheasant - veeery common in zoos around the world, very eye-carching and we need a pheasant
6. Scarlet ibis - tbh I'm not the biggest fan of adding ibises without flying animations (because they nest high up in trees, for example and I have never seen ibises with clipped wings in zoos) but it still should work and they are just too iconic to ignore
7. American wood duck - I wanted to go for the mandarin duck first but mainland NA needs a bird, too, and they are probably the second most iconic and well known duck after the mandarin duck

Honourable mentions: white stork, black swan and magpie goose (I'm sorry Australians), wild turkey, marabou stork, shoebill, white-faced whistling duck (I'm sorry @RightWhale ),...

Idk how relevant it is but Planet Zoo didn’t repost the Frontier Unlocked announcement like Planet Coaster did.
:'(
I feel the same as Tinou and Fini feel, except replace Walrus with Bat-eared Fox. LOL. Walrus is a much better choice since he adds a completely different pinniped to the seal whereas Bat-eared Fox is just more of the same... Actually, I feel a Polar Animal Pack could still be good.
  • Walrus
  • Musk Ox
  • Adelie Penguin
  • Arctic Hare
  • King Eider
  • Snow Goose
  • Elephant Seal

I really hope there's at least more DLC, one that feels like a good way to end. The Asia pack was good, but I didn't feel like it was the cherry on top of the cake. I don't mean that I want a super DLC with birds and many animals. I would be happy with a global pack with popular additions even if they are clones, something like:
  1. American black bear
  2. Squirrel monkey
  3. Nile crocodile
  4. Alpine marmot
  5. Yak
  6. Eastern grey kangaroo
  7. Coati
  8. Chameleon

I still count on the two last DLC’s this year and a last bundle for console in December.

It would make no sense to stop the console support a year after the release.

Let’s chill out and think positively about all those animals once found in the planCo dictionary like tree roo and echidna.

Plus I could really use pelicans in my zoos. Frontier please 🙏🏿 give us those modern days pterodactyls 😊

I mean even if we get more packs, im personally not really counting on animals like these.

The last few dlcs had a trend of largely being rather simple additions, so im not sure if there really is the production budget for these more complex animals in the PZ team.
I think us getting the saki over the much, much more popular howler or spider monkey is a decent Indicator for this

Yeah you may be right.
Howlers tail animations would destroy frontier 🤣
But honestly give the swan a different head and you have a pelican, add climbing to quokka and you have a tree roo - they don’t really move that much in a real life. Nobody expects anything more at this stage.

It’s also funny when Frontier goes crazy on a very specific animal, like the bush dog had a ton of effort put into it. Not that this is a bad thing, but when a ton of people are hoping for a howler monkey, new bird species, etc.its really funny when the second canid species of the pack gets a ton of hard work out into it.

Or we get the Asia pack, and people are really hoping for the king cobra (I know we haven’t had an exhibit species in awhile, but it would have been the time to do it. Frontier did give us a free WTE animal) and a new pheasant species. We get neither, and the pack is 7/7 mammals. We do however get a new monkey species, and a honey badger. Both of these have a ton of effort, but then we got the elephant.

So I’m in a similar camp to you, I’m open to being pleasantly surprised, but even if we get more DLCs it seems they are bound to not go my way lol.
