Franchise Community Challenge Discussion

What do you (asking everyone) consider a reasonably priced giant panda? Because I generally forget to lower the prices from the game generated ones so my pandas usually sell at about 1300-1500 cc if I remember correctly - is that considered too much? Should I make more of an effort to remember to lower the price?

I'm also pretty bad at checking the prices when buying animals because I have so much cc that it really doesn't matter to me (and make more faster than I spend it). 😅 So I'm probably part of the problem in "encouraging" high prices, sorry haha.

I'm quite happy with the game generated prices, which might well mean 1500 for an animal with excellent stats
A bit more to reward effort breeding good animals doesn't seem excessive either but over 3000 just seems robbery to me and they often just sit annoying flooding the trade centre and not selling either

If you do sell them for less to be generous, there's every chance someone will buy them and put them back on the market for way more
Not sure I see the point of playing a zoo game and then playing as a trader, but we're stuck as is without some features to restrict such practices
A simple rule that you can't sell an animal for more than you paid for it, seems an easy solution?

I do sometimes see a wall of albino pandas for 10K each sitting in trades and just taking up space until time runs out. I never buy albinos because they're not to my taste (I still wonder sometimes why Planet Zoo went with albino giant pandas but didn't add the more known brown version?).

Oh yes I very often see my animals of different species being re-sold by other players. I've never in the years I've played raised prices when selling animals. From day one (started playing around Africa pack release) I've sold everything for the game generated prices or less - just wanting to help the market out. And I guess people like to try to earn some easy cc by buying my animals and selling them for sometimes thousands more cc. It does confuse me a little because in my mind it's so easy to earn cc anyway but I assume it's someone who desperately needs more cc fast for some reason?
I keep my own prices down because I'd like newer players (or poor players for that matter ;)) to have a chance at buying some good animals too. I remember being stuck with ostriches, warthogs and peacocks for quite some time before getting enough cc to buy some other stuff in the very beginning.
So that bothers me a tiny bit when someone buys (as an example) a capuchin from me for 124 cc and then sell it for 7,500 cc - there is no way a newer player can afford that. But I also try to be understanding that the person in question seems desperate for cc to do something like that. Luckily they're usually kind and keep my suffix on when re-selling so I don't even have to bother checking those animals out if I'm looking to buy myself.

I usually stop at 5k when buying from players. I don't think default prices hit beyond that number. And buying 1 at that price and then selling it's offspring for regular prices will still give me a profit if I need to build up my credits. At the moment my credits are reasonably good, thanks to my many trades and releases over the years. I don't usually sell for more than the default prices unless the stats are almost maxed out. But even then not much of an increase, usually a slight rounding up. For example: Changing 1029 to 1100.

Like you, I remember the days of struggling to build up those CCs to get the good animals so try to trade out as much as possible and even if they raise the prices reasonably for resale I don't mind, I just don't like the hiked up prices.

Well, I was hoping to get to the gold podium in the last few hours but .. missed the window rofl. Hopefully the silver podium stuck and I get 2 animals to refill my gifted animals storage rofl.

Anyway .. the next challenge is up ... so for those that want to prepare before it starts ( you know its most of us by now 🤣 )

Next Community Challenge

Here to Help

This weeks' community challenge is focused on releasing 3* Endangered Animals. One of the many groups that is worth learning more about and finding ways to help. Good luck Zookeepers!

These are the Endangered and Critically Endangered animals ( including the exhibit animals as the site isn't too easy to filter per in game display - I didn't forget to try .. honest rofl ) . In case it doesn't show the file names to you guys ... the larger list is the endangered list.

I'll do an in game enrichment compatibility list shortly :) Hopefully not too big a list though considering the animal count.

Don't forget that the last DLC animals might not be included in the challenge, it all depends on if they have added them to the challenge lists.

The websites list isn't in agreement with the game in some regards. So, here is a list of the in game habitat animals along with the DLCs the website says they were in ( hopefully more correct than their statuses rofl ) . Quite a few base game animals here so even if you are new to the game, there's quite a selection you may be able to dig into for the challenge.

Out of this list the following seem to be good options for a minimal zoo with lots of potential. I've included the common continent/biome to aid in design ideas.

Looking at those pictures shows that the website isn't well updated on the zoopedia stuff? African Penguin is on the critical list in game now (reflecting the change IRL), I see that for example the African elephant is missing on the endangered list, and what is the Tamworth pig doing on these? xD
On the critical list picture I also see stuff like Aardvark and ASCO that doesn't belong. Feels like someone should look over the website zoopedia and make sure things are correct...

But anyway! I actually have an "Endangered" zoo already from the last time this challenge was active so this should give me an opportunity to expand that one and try to improve it a bit. :)

Yeah, I noticed the site seems different from the game .. but it's a quick and dirty way of preparing without going in game and then make last minute preparation once you get in game and see the differences. I'll assume the in game assignments will be the relevant factor.

I'll definitely go through the in game list again and update the post with the animals that are on the site list and not the in game list and vice versa.
Scratch that, went with a new list with the DLC the animal is in so people can decide based on the DLCs they have, or use it to choose the DLC they get next :)

Looks at group habitat selection ... yep, formula one racetrack unlocked 🤣

Initial Layout Design. It's probably larger than it will be but the general areas are there. It all depends on the maximum area the animals will need for their habitats.

Addax - Shy
Nile Lechwe - Shy
Coquerel's Sifaka - Neutral
Malayan Tapir - Neutral
Primates - Confident
Because of the abundance of shy or practically shy animals I may be consistent and have closed walls all the way through with just the safari ride giving the guests access to the animals. It will hopefully ensure the animals have a more comfortable stay and as little stress as possible.
