Trailblazer Resupply | Community Goal Update

Phil W

Community Manager

Greetings Commanders,

The response to our latest Community Goal has been astronomical and we are overjoyed to see so many of you getting involved! With such determination you look set to smash through the all time records for community goals!

In order the ensure that as many Commanders as possible are able to participate in this record breaking community initiative, we have added 2 additional tiers, alongside increased credit rewards for achieving these targets.

The current community goal is due to run for four weeks and will end at 10am UTC on Thursday 21st August, at which time rewards will be distributed.

Happy hauling!

And here I thought, for a moment, that I had a secure spot above the 75% boundary...

@Phil W - you better think about making those engineered cargo racks available at one or the other tech broker. I wouldn't mind paying 5kt of CMMs for each (or jump through some REP hoop).

I'm glad there's a little extra time for people, but I'd caution on moving these posts too far, too much and too often.

While it made sense for the Thargoid War, it doesn't make sense here. How has Brewer's demand suddenly spiked more? Was it a miscalculation?

Additionally, why even have a max delivery amount then, and just make it so it's time based only? I don't mind a bit of massaging for the narrative. Give me a good story and I'll forgive a LOT. But this, doesn't make sense.

Goals need to be achievable. If each time we get close or respond in such an astronomical fashion, we see the posts moved. What's the point of having them as a goal?

Dare I suggest that the demand for the PC2 has been higher than expected so more resources are needed?
What does Brewer's demand have to do with Zorgon Peterson's material demands?

Gallium, Polymers, and Superconductors for the PCMKII, whereas Brewer's asking for Titanium, Aluminum and CMM Composite.

All good points tbh. "Good story and I'll forgive a lot" is definitely the case with me too.
While I'm not against the increase (it's free money for me :) ), I'd definitely prefer if there was some story behind it a galnet article etc.
Your point about CG being both time- and quantity-limited shows that they're a bit outdated feature for the current game reality/economy.

If only there where resources to develop code, that is not depandent on the amount delivered but only runs a certain time.

Buy more arx guys, im sure they get used to further the game

They are asking for the bottleneck commodities. This has changed obviously.

You're trying to link a causal relationship.

Because PCMKII's delivery arrived, Brewer demands replenishment of stock. (Less than a week after launch of the PCMKII). Narratively this doesn't make sense, since no time has passed to allow for market adjustment. Additionally, CMM Composites, Titanium, Aluminum, Gallium, Polymers, and Superconductors have all been available in abundance (though not on the Megaships since everyone gravitated to them.)

In the end though, there's no real answer to this question as-is. It's a non-diagetic adjustment to the CG to push it out arbitrarily despite the goal having been set at the start. My issue isn't necessarily this CG specifically, just that it's done with every single one these days and there isn't enough of an in-universe reason to account for it. "Mah Immersion!"

TLDR;
In Game:
I'd be less annoyed if there was an in-game explanation for the adjustment to at supports the ongoing aging of the galaxy.

Out of Game:
I'm getting frustrated (only minorly so far) that a goal can't just be hit for full success, they have to be continually modified. I know during earlier CGs related to the end of the Thargoid War I had been much more charitable on this front, but that had a good story involved.

I sort-of miss the days when a CG would end when it got to 100% rather than FDev just god-handing extra Tiers on top to make it last as long as they want it to.

Also, why not make the new Tiers unlock permanent access to the modules, as previous CGs used to do?

Also, also, why not introduce a new Engineer who can engineer cargo racks, maybe fuel tanks and similar modules as well??

Extra capacity mod like the CG ones, smuggling mod so the contents don't show up on a scan, hack-resistant mod so the cargo won't be vented if a hatch breaker limpet is used, corrosion resistant mod for Thargoid stuff, whatever other mods would make sense...
