DLC21 Speculation

I don't know why you guys are getting so riled up about, no DLCs anymore just means they are putting 100% focus on Planet Zoo 2 and hopefully we have some news about it and meaning we will get it sooner rather than later, its great news! Planet Zoo was amazing and it has a ton of DLCs, its time to focus on the next game 100%.

Well, some people simply don't want a PZ2 right now. I'm of course not against the idea of a PZ2 as it could bring a lot of things that can't be done in PZ1 but I'm part of those who won't buy the game as soon as it is released because I won't pay full price for a game that has less than half the species we have right now. I will wait at least a full year (if not 2) and buy the game during steam sales. It's something I didn't do for PZ1, I paid all DLCs full price.

That being said, I'm also part of the team that want only one more DLC for PZ1 to seal everything properly so I can focus on my projects.

I agree that I'm not ready for Planet Zoo 2 either.

PZ1 really just needs about a dozen more species and maybe one more theme to feel like a complete roster (in the standard they set for themselves) and it'd be really irritating to stop here with one of their most lackluster packs imo when two more animal packs - if done correctly - could bring final closure to the game.

While we wait for PZ....I would like some official animals that I can use in my franchise zoos. I realize mods are a great thing for sandbox of course. But my franchise zoos also lack a few "PZ1 possible" animals. Many birds of course but a pelican, duck, Scarlet ibis, Secretary Bird, Wild Turkey and Shoebill. Out of Reptiles a Cobra, Chameleon (for exhibits) and Nile Crocodile for habitats. For mammals really the Coati, American Black Bear, and at least one of Howler Monkey/Squirrel Monkey/Spider Monkey/Tamarin.

There's a huge other list I'd like to see of varying importance but this pretty much would take care of everything I need as far as what PZ can offer. That is to say, no flying birds or fully marine animals.

i realize we're not going to get all that, if ANY. But just putting that out there that I'd at least like to see the Coati, ABB and if we're incredibly lucky a duck, another South American Monkey and one more habitat bird.

I'm on the same page. We are maybe 12-15 animals away of what i would call a perfect roster and some omissions really frustrate me because there were several chances to get them and really no reason not to (coati, sea otter, tree roo, howler monkey, pelican, duck, pheasants, secretary, mara, nile croc, musk ox, ABB, etc).

But if a sequel comes soon with amn easy way to build aviaries, free flying animals, a lot more birds, customizable exhibits in size, shape and content, fish tanks, easier ways to build underwater tunnels, fully aquatic species and a new pathing system that doesn't make you want to destroy your computer then i'm all for it.

But everyone would disagree on what these missing species are

Absolutely. I'd argue that most of us would have said there were only ~10 species missing 4 DLCs ago - as long as they were the species each individual wanted. It won't stop me from hoping, but I'm at peace with the fact that I will never get every species that I want - partly because it's unrealistic, and partly because even as I do get species I wanted, more will take their place. please add the Golden Lion Tamarin though Frontier

I mean, from the beginning of the game, someone was setting themselves up for disappointment if they honestly believed that they would get every species they wanted. That just was never going to happen, for anyone, unless someone had a really low level of engagement of what they would want. And even though we've gotten a massive amount of animals, more than most of us ever thought we would, there will always be "more" that just about everyone wants. And that's even taking out things like flying birds and fully marine animals that it was pretty apparent 2 years ago (more for marine animals for me anyways) just weren't gong to happen.

I'll stand by my hopes for a Coati, American Black Bear and one more New World Monkey. I don't expect anything else to be honest beyond possibly an anniversary animal (ABB/Nile Crocodile/Second Lion or Giraffe?) but I can still hope. Hope is free. If by some miracle we got all 3 I would walk away feeling 99% satisfied with the mammal roster.

I don't get it, why is that a sign of an end?
Yeah the Facebook announcement doesn't really do it for me; but what does "concern me" is the the update history on SteamDB.

It's always something you need to take with a grain of salt because it's just repositories at the end of the day, but it is undeniable that there's been a significant drop in activity since the last patch. And whilst you could argue that they just aren't using the repositories as they used to, it would be weird if they'd change it this late in the game and even weirder if you compare it to Planet Coaster 2 where there's a lot more activity.

Is this a hard confirm? Not really. But the contrast with the activity when new DLCs were actively in development these past few years vs now is just quite big. One could argue that they already finished it and that's why they don't need to update stuff, but 20 DLCs in a row we saw activity right up until the release of the DLC, so that's just very hard to believe.

So yeah. Take it with a grain of salt, but what we're seeing here seems to line up with what happened with JWE2.

Yes and no. I mean of course everyone has some favorites that don't seem to be top priorities at the community level, but we can all agree on the fact that there are very popular species that are in nearly everyone's top wishlist. Coati, Tree Kangaroo, Howler Monkey, Musk Ox, Secretary Bird and/or Grey-Crowned Crane... and I only cite those ones because they seem like a real possibility to me. I could add Walrus and Patagonian Mara but I've come to terms with the fact that we probably won't get them. Also, you can add to the list really easy clones that are essential in a zoo game: American Black Bear, Serval, Nile Croc, a Pelican or a Duck.

I really can't imagine someone being mad at such a pack.

The only reason for a PZ2 is to improve core mechanics. But realistically it will likely be driven by projected profit margins.

Back on topic. I am hoping for a Coatimundi and Secretary bird at this stage.

Pelican you guys!

It’s the bird with dedicated exhibits in nearly every zoo in Europe. I still can’t believe it’s not there yet.

Idk there are some that are more popular than others and there is a general.consensus on some of them even if not every single one of us care about each of those animals most of us agree that they should have been added to the game: coati, pelican, ducks, american black bear, tree kangaroo, an african crocodile, another african bird, an african monkey, another southamerican primate, etc.

Very good.

Bring on the sequel, I say.
Yeah, I am back at that point as well.

I'd rather have a gap now (we have a great roster anywayy and I still have 100 ideas for zoos with what we have) then another low effort DLC with minimum sound work, no significant game update etc.

Is the asia pack a weird spot to end on? Yes. But I still think they stretched one pack to three (looking at all the festive stuff).
Let them put all their energy into PZ2 with HOPEFULLY great soundwork again and a FINISHED game (so no PC2 release repitition)

Also, can't believe I am really saying this, but: Bring on flying birds, please. I'm ready now.

I don't really believe there actually is a general consensus. This game has thousands of players. A small handful of forum members repeating the same wishlists ad nauseum does not make for a consensus.
