Mission runner CG

I am a little bit bored with the hauling/mining/combat trifecta of CGs. You, Fdev, actively try to force your players into week+ long game loops with absolutely no variation. With all we can do in the game, that seem rather unimaginative.

So how about doing a mission running CG, with the influence you earn by completing missions for the faction running the CG being the points you get towards the CG.
Now the haulers can do delivery missions, or source commodities. The miners can take mining missions. The fighters can take combat missions. But we also have the option to free hostages, scan installations, sabotage mega ships and settlements, retrieving black boxes, loot the componets, and every other mission we can do. You know, variation.

You can still add extra incentives and/or increased monetary reward for the missions if you want, or just make the reward payout absolutely massive.
 
Or a sightseeing CG. Only payouts for sightseeing tours count for the CG, don't matter if it's VIP or not. Then have several systems competing over which one is the better tourism spot.
 
Mining missions are basically sourcing missions anyway. 😉
… unless they ask you for mining only materials.

But I don’t think anybody does that [exclusively, at least] unless it’s one of the now absent repair operations on a station that requires such.

But yes, most of the “mining” missions people take are just those where you can buy the stuff from elsewhere. And a mission running CG would really not be that different from… doing BGS, as I see it, except with “It’s a community goal” flavor. Which I suppose you could kind of say for the other types too but not to the same level. With something like the Thargoid War (bring it back already Frontier) it was at least a little different from standard Thargoid fighting with the possible rescues, fighting at stations directly, bringing in supplies or snooping around Thargoid-held systems…

Would such a multi-aspect CG be more varied? Of course, but it would need to be thematically fitting. And I’m not sure how easy that would be to do, depending on the exact setting of the CG.

You're doing BGS with the mining and bounty hunting missions. It's the exact same thing play a part of the game loop except it's got more options and is in a horrible game state. People will still do it if the rewards don't suck and it's trivial to implement they simply make it a delivery CG for an item that can only be gained through missions I think Modular Frames was something like that and then tweak the get modular frames drop rate for missions for a week. It's as fitting as deliver mined platinum for statues of the god emperor of the imperium. Might even help highlight how crappy the situation with missions is at the moment and get enough screaming to get the ones that've been broken for years fixed.
 
All of your critiques are valid. There definitely are some issues with missions that should have been addressed ages ago. But the same can be said for the normal CG loops.
But I'm not saying that this should replace the CGs we usually have, just be asded to them, nor would it need any more lore explanation. I just want more variety in the gameplay Fdev want us to engage in.
