Planet Zoo 2: 200 Animal Species Meta-Wishlist

A few forum members and I have gotten together to start a Metawishlist for species that people would like to see in a hypothetical sequel to Planet Zoo. Participants are welcome to post one list of 50-200 animals. This list can include species currently in Planet Zoo and others they would like to see. The larger list size should accommodate other types of additions such as aquatic species and flying birds.

Rules:
  • Users shall post one list containing the English common names of 50-200 species they would like to see in Planet Zoo 2.
  • There is only one vote per species per list; all others of that species will be ignored.
  • Lists may contain species currently in Planet Zoo, species not yet added to Planet Zoo, traditional habitat animals, domestics, exhibit-type animals, flying birds, and aquatic animals.
  • Lists may not contain extinct species, humans, cryptids/fantastical animals, or animals smaller than 5 mm (no microorganisms).
  • Do not specify the breed of domestic animals; just put 'domestic' in front of the animal type (i.e. vote for 'domestic chicken' instead of 'silkie chicken')
  • Lists should not include subspecies (i.e. vote for 'tiger' instead of 'bengal tiger') or generic votes(i.e. vote for 'grey wolf' instead of 'wolf').
    • Our general plan is to lump subspecies in with species, and generic votes will go towards the species with the highest vote for inevitable mistakes.
    • Please do your best to limit this as it makes a lot more work for us, and there will be a general list anyway if you're worried about splitting the vote.
    • If you are interested in specific breeds or subspecies for a sequel, that will be covered in a separate discussion.
  • We reserve the right to ignore any entry that violates the rules.
For Ease of Counting: Please start here if you want to help.
  • This list is intended to track the species that forum members would like to see in a potential sequel. While the accidental inclusion of subspecies and general picks is inevitable, please try to vote at the species level.
  • Do not include extra text (i.e. no Latin names or explanations; put them below the list if you want to include them)
  • Please do not use the words 'any' or 'or' to indicate general wishes. Especially, do not use descriptive words instead of species names (i.e. vote for a species of monkey, not 'Indian monkey' or vote for clownfish instead of 'orange striped fish'). General votes with qualifying phrases and 'or' votes are extremely difficult to process with our system, and they will be the first to be ignored.

Though I don't think Planet Zoo 2 will have the same problem as Jurassic World Evolution 3 where several new models had to be made for existing species, instead focusing on adding new mechanics, updating older models, adding new species, new attractions and new behaviours. I think we should expect just about all the animals to return, I would only cut the Goliath Frog and Titan Beetle as they have no existing captive presence. But if I were to write the list to include returning species, this is it.

  200. Zebra shark

I'm sorry, but I think we all must play with the same rules here. Some users are voting 200 new animals assuming all the original ones are returning and that's not fair.

the rules proposed the inclusion of existing animals more as a suggestion, like you can include them if you want, but you don't have to. That's what I went with because Planet Zoo 2 really is not in the same position as Jurassic World Evolution 3 is, where 2 new models had to be made for a list of returning species, with 3 new models for each new species added on top of that. Planet Zoo has had juveniles and dimorphism from the beginning, so there don't need to be extra models made for the existing species.

Hell Yeah. I'll also add only new animals and consider Land, Aquatic, Exhibit and Flying ones

I can edit my list and mix returners and new species if y'all would like.

We could do it where we have one list for returning species we want and another list for new species to make it more clear.

Also I apologize for the confusion I have caused with this thread.

And how do you suggest to prevent that?
I don't really know. If the thread is about the 200 animals we want to see in the game, we all should post that, not the 200 additional new animals we would like to see in addition to the 210 already in-game. Of course the people in charge of counting aren't responsible if other people decide to change the rules. I'm just pointing that we are mixing different realities here and therefore the resulting list is not going to be an accurate representation of what we want, which is really a pity.

I'm sorry, but I think we all must play with the same rules here. Some users are voting 200 new animals assuming all the original ones are returning and that's not fair.
People should realize that no everything will come back from the start (and maybe not even by the end of the sequel either). We have 210 animals and even if some people like them all there are a few that are superflous or just too much of an oddball to have a garanteed spot in the sequel.

We can be confidents elephants, zebras, tigers, liona, pandas, etc will be back but you can't say the same for all the antelopes for instance... So i think what i would do to build my list is first look at the whole current roster, then remove the ones i don't care about and the subspecies, then remove the ones i'm 100% are coming back because they are zoo essentials and there will be uproar and will hurt the game if not there (eg. Tiger, lion, elephant) and with the places i have left i would fill them with the new animals i would like to see.

I'll post my list later because that will take a while lol but that's how i would do it.

This shall be fun! I will sperate mine into new and returning, with 200 total. This is for the base game or is it just a personal wishlist?

I agree a seperate list or category for returners would be ideal. Again it could be either 150 returners and 50 newcomers or 100/100. That way we can see what animals people want to prioritize coming back for the sequel

Just a couple of questions before I go over my list from another thread and clean up some of the species - African and Indian/Asian elephants would count as separate species correct? What about Grizzly and Eurasian Brown Bears? Sorry, I'm a bit dumb on some of the taxonomical breakdowns. i'm already going to have to remove one tiger so I want to go through the cleanup just one time if possible. I think I'm good on all of the other breakdowns but just checking on those two.

  1. Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) is one species, which includes grizzly, Kodiak, Tibetan Blue, Himalayan, Eurasian brown bear, and several other subspecies.
  2. There are three species of elephant: the Asian elephant, the African bush/savannah elephant (probably what you mean by 'African'), and the African forest elephant.
