Soontills relics not paying out any Merits???

I filled my carrier with soontills relics. Now I'm out 300ly away form Ngurii and anytime I sell them I don't gat ANY merits. not a single one. I am in a expansion system for Li Yong-Rui (my pledged power) and I'm not getting anything.

Would the fact that i filled my ship using a sell order from my carrier (because transferring from a carrier to a ship for the amount of 1200 tonnes takes AGES frontier pls fix) have anything to do with it.

I'm at a loss, I spent HOURS filling my carrier with the intention of finally getting prismatic shields and now my efforts are seemingly pointless as im not getting ANY merits.

I might be wrong, but I want to say the latter has been that way ever since carriers were released - mined goods lose their "mined" tag when stored on a carrier and, if I remember correctly, didn't count for mining CGs in the past either. Or something similar. Point is: Goods are tagged in different ways, and those tags can change when storing or selling them to a carrier, which can have consequences for other activities. Been that way for years.

Be careful what you store on your carrier.

That still doesn't make sense, Frontier should change that or at least make it explicitly clear to you that rare/mined good will have its tag changed when storing in the carrier. Had I known I wouldn't of used my carrier and spent my time flying in between system. But as I have utilizing my carrier as my main method to transport large amounts of good, I just defaulted to that, because I have it, why not use it.

It also doesn't make sense logically that storing something on YOUR carrier would invalidate it from earning merits. The carrier is intended to be a tool (a very expensive one too) to allow a more effective gameplay. What would make me or any other CMDR think anything else then that.

I can get maybe taging something differently if its bought of a another's CMDR's carrier for gameplay reasons and bla bla. But your carrier is your own and you should be abel to use it and accomplish what you want with it. Putting in these limitations just kills the already very minimal value there is in having a carrier.

Yeah but once again these things should be clearly communicated INGAME.
Because gamers are gonna look at the game and come to obvious conclusions based on what the game offers and in this case they gonna get slapped in the face with a reality they can only verify in the forums.
Elite D has always had these silly underhandedisms and it needs to stop.
Player engagement is on the rise and these types of threads are gonna keep popping endlessly and justifiably so if i fdev dont step up and clean up their ingame communications.
I mean we've had double supercruise assist messages plastered across our screens for ages, and constant "wrong cockpit mode" messages.
But a blip that says "if these rares touch your fc they become toxic" hell no this is too much to ask of course.

On the one hand, yes it's a stupid limitation that isn't communicated well.
On the other hand, using the Carrier for rares trading takes everything away which makes it "special".

So I guess it will stay, and you propably learned your lesson. I used a 400 ton Conda yesterday with great success, no carrier needed.

I found that out once when I loaded up my FC. A quick search tolde the reason. Whilst it was annoying I sort of agreed with it. It's to stop people bypassing the system for merits .
The merits is normally on Trade profits so selling to your FC and then buying back can be construed as artificially increasing the trade profit . So they stopped that .
I mean 600 soontil relics isn't enough ? It's normally 40. If you are looking for quick progression try looking for mining for merits ( can't use FC either )

I'll bet my head for a carrot, that there is a designated fdev that does nothing else then thinking of ways to make players life more miserable caugh caugh - i mean thinking of ways to give players the feeling they have accomplished something in-game. 😁

As to the FC thingy: I've learned the hard way myself ...

I think that's the most lazy and crappy thing added to Elite ever. That's like basic template for the functionality that someone forgot to develop and should never made it to actual game in its current form.
Because I was pretty well stocked when I started new PP, now I have this absurdly long list of indistinguishable packages with leftovers. When I look for something I might be needing it's pure horror. When I open package in the middle, try to claim things, the list rewinds to the beginning. New packages start at the top and later seem to be moving to the bottom of the list. It's without any exaggeration impossible to find anything.

The list is sorted newest first when you initially open the page.

After trying to claim the contents of any package (regardless of result) it switches to be sorted oldest first and stays that way until fully closed and re-opened, which will switch it back to newest first.
