A grand idea of a space USSR and XL landing pads

We have the ability to make new stations and colonies and build infrastructure and entire economy’s
but what if we went a step further and let the players have ownership of the colony’s and with that then order your built up colony’s
to design and build XL shipyards to build XL capital class of ships making a empire ,capital ships and doing diplomacy with other player colonies possible or just give the ability to fund a revolution to give you control over the system entirely.
Maybe give the ability to invade ai systems

the main idea is to allow the player base to build new stations or colonies that have the infrastructure for a new class of ship either developed independently based on leaked designs you have to steal or develop them yourself with a large population and tax revenue used to pay a scientific branch of government to basically make the same thing with difference being you can’t mod a capital ships internals without owning a XL shipyard this will give old players something to do and new players something more to look forward to it wouldn’t be easy but would be fun.

For instance I would love to make a communist space empire that I can start from scratch and build up to a 5 or 6 system empire

I just want XL capital size ships in elite dangerous
New idea below
New idea is once you get a XL shipyard and get at least 10K people you get the ability to build colony ships. colony ships are one time use capital class colonization tool that allows you to expand your empire to distant stars up to 100 light years away this will require vast amounts of resources to build and to research much technology in order to build. This way there is no need for war with other colonies.

The Architect kind of has partial ownership as the building manager / designer.

They could add XL-sized shipyards. ED already has the Carrier Construction Dock.

This is done via Powerplay which is a bit indirect and convoluted atm. Players can undermine other systems and change the controlling faction.

I'd like the ability to order a shipyard in a colony to build capital ships too. Diplomacy is done via Powerplay or player groups.

The System Architect is primarily a building manager, not a ruler of the colony. System Colonization is more like Sim City and Cities Skylines. However, I think more ruler-abilities to shape the economy and security by giving executive orders would be great.

This is at odds with game design to date. No I don't want a system where some tryhards can group up and steal stuff from other players that had to spend hours suffering the hauling gameplay loop. That's a different game and has no place being retrofitted into ED.

I missed a part about colony system invasion initially.

This is a definite no, because you'll have classic problem where you run into organized player group which has too many people and too much free time. They will then steal all your stuff and you'll have no meaningful way to fight back, because you're one person with a day job. The classic "survival game" problem. Current design sidesteps this by not granting player ownership.

So instead of building communist empire, in practice most likely you will be the one completely obliterated by a faction with some silly name like "flying spaghetti monster enjoyers". Something similar happened when people were able to establish minor factions. There was a rather vivid post which I, sadly, can't find, where a deeply unhappy player described how he wanted a quiet system for himself, and was steamrolled by some large group which were deep into their RP and didn't care about his circumstances.

Overall the whole thing resembles X4 or maybe stellaris and does not seem to fit into ED framework. That's an opinion, of course.

I have changed it to be more elite with a dash of conquest of AI only and only if said AI starts it
 
Capital ship docks exist we just cant build them in colonies but what's you're asking for is basically just colonisation range limits dropped. Once that happens you can create your own little communist bubble in deep space either with friends on by creating and dropping squadrons until you have a enough communist minor factions that you can BGS them into all systems and remove everyone else. We don't need a colonisation megaship mk2. It exists all that's missing is the ability to get away from everyone.
 
What is BGS
Back ground simulation. The system that controls the minor factions that you find in systems and their states. Communism is a minor faction government type. When a minor faction is over 75% influence it can expand to a new system. When a system has more than 4 factions one can be forced to retreat. If you bring 3 factions to a spot, which is easy with colonisation you can manipulate them all into all the systems you want. Force everyone else out and live in a little bubble of communism. The only thing missing right now is the ability to do this far from others but since there's lots of other stuff missing you can just pick a spot in the bubble and create your little communist republic.
