Carrier Question

Hey all,

iv been on break from the game for a bit and wanted to know have they reduced / removed the huge maintenance fees for the carriers? or are they still the same?

Credits are easy to get, the maintenance and fuel costs are not a concern once you get to the appropriate earning potential with it.

how do you work out how to earn money with it?

and thank you all for ya replies greatly appreciated and helped alot

Hi :)

how do you work out how to earn money with it?

Okay, first things first....how many credits do you currently have?
This is to establish whether you can or cannot afford to buy a carrier in the first place at the moment! :)
As a ball park figure you'll need around 7 billion to buy a carrier and kit it out with a basic chance of using it to make more credits. Other players here might not totally agree with this, but this is what I've experienced, personally speaking.

Jack :)

A mobile platform for exploration springs to mind, ensure Universal Cartographics and Vista Genomics services are installed (plus the usual refuel, repair, rearm). Also a ship that is properly Exo friendly (might I recommend the Viper MKIV).

Bulk cargo shipping. It has to be a high profit load to justify the double load/unload effort, but strip out all those carrier services to provide a convenient 25,000t of cargo space and a 500Ly/20(ish) minutes jump range.

Massacre Mission stacking in an appropriate system with ringed bodies (but no large landing pads available), your fleet carrier equipped with refuel, rearm, repair presents the ideal platform for a good old credit and materials bonanza of pew, pew, pop. Remember a medium small ship equipped to bumble around collecting and cashing in all those missions and of course your deathstar mega PVE ship for the actual grunt work operating off the FC.

Not so much a money spinner but the FC is a pretty essential accessory for colonisation of the quieter sectors of the galaxy, where supplies might be thin on the ground.

Again not so much a money spinner, but mobile storage of your fleet and all those engineered modules (you can store a lot more of them installed on storage ships hosted on your Fleet Carrier).

With just a 4BCr deposit (largely refundable), no nasty contracts to sign & very manageable weekly maintenance payments (proportional to your service usage), can I sign you up Commander?

Current FC specification provides sufficient storage (having removed optional services) to pack the entire commodity requirements for a T1 Orbital into a single carrier - your ultimate home from home! Could it have been ingeniously designed like that they ask?

Interested in how many carrier loads for a T3?
Seriously Commander, if you have to ask, you simply don't have the patience to solo a T3 😜

My carrier uses about 500 mil per year with it being stationary and disabled. I give it about a billion every couple years now.

What else are you using the credits for? They dont do anything just sitting in your wallet.

That being said... For the cost fdev enforces of having to continue to pay credits to play with a carrier...they could actually give carrier owners some fixes that are pretty low cost.. like communications that actually recognize the 'owner''s status. Some more paint jobs. Different horn sounds. Ability to fill tritium tank from carrier cargo hold. A cargo 'fill ship' button per item. Pirate voice. ...simple quality of life stuff.

I overlooked the icing on the Fleet Carrier credit cake 🤯

Cruise the Titan Cociljo site in Sol - engineered scanner (long range suggested), B rated collector limpet controller and corrosion resistant cargo racks at the ready (don't forget those limpets!).
Gather your Titan Drive Components and they'll sell like hotcakes through your FC commodity market for over 36,000,000Cr/ton.

Depending on how you value your time, that's money for nothing!

I usually use it to deliver cargo to my construction sites. Prior to that, I used to to take advantage of trade rushes. Bauxite, etc. I have friends that live on the carrier too so they also get a cut out of the value of whatever I'm trading in volume.
