Have Eagle, but all new ships cost at least 30k in shipyard

Hey all. Trying to get a new ship! I have 22k right now, but everything from the Sidewinder to the Hauler is 30k and 52k, respectively.

Why aren't ship prices moving as I make more money? Thanks!

I kinda feel the prices ARE moving as i make more money... The cobra was 240k in Beta, in Gamma i went to the shipyard, happily handed my 240k to the vendor and he says Cobra is 379k now... Talking about inflation!

On the serious note, just earn more money and buy the hauler, if you want to trade or a viper if you want to fight...

The prices in this game are screwed up compared to what you earn. Feels like economy balancing has been done to appease Korean MMO players. (NO offence to these guys, they are pretty hard core)

Sorry I think I wasn't quite clear, my apologies.

What is my Eagle worth? Because when I make money I do not see the prices of the ships in the shipyard go down. Also the Eagle doesn't seem to take out of the cost of the ships?

Freeagle is worth about 40k, when you buy a new ship theres an option to sell the one that you own, its price is extracted from the price of the new one. Just explore the options.

I don't know if 1.01 fixed it but in 1.0 there was a bug where "purchase" remained red even if you had enough credits to get the new ship with a trade in. You could only do it if you had enough cash, even if you were planning on trading in. The workaround requires a spare 32k credit buffer over what you need...

Buy a basic sidey for cash, storing your current ship.
Under stored ships select "sell stored ship"
Buy the new ship for cash, storing the basic sidey
Sell the stored sidey to get your buffer back

COnsidering the fact that this game is supposed to be a rather long lasting experience (with you spending months within the game world) it is only natural that you aren´t supposed to get to an Anaconda or even higher with just 1 month of playing ;)
That said ... if you trade your way up (Hauler, then Cobra and so on) you are able to earn more money per flight (than with the lower models). No problem for me to earn above 10k CR per flight with my Cobra ... if I had a better reputation with the Federation it could even be aroung 100k CR on some missions

Hmmmm... I'm just curious, why do you suppose that's natural? Now of course, that's true for subscription based games (so they keep people on the so-called "treadmill" longer), or for games that offer micro-transactions based on providing character convenience or advantage (so people will consider paying money less bother than gaining the same advantages through play). However, aside from those two models, the idea of "you have to play for months and months to get to the great stuff" is actually a really, really rare thing in games. ED so far shows no sign of being subscription based, and while it's possible it may devolve into pay-to-win depending on what decisions FDEV makes, so far we're not there yet, so it's not clear FDEV will have the incentive to arrive at this "natural" conclusion.

Well, FD have to pay for the upkeep of their servers and they have cut offline solo mode.
So it is only natural that they have, just as normal MMO(RPG)s an interest in keeping people playing the game.

I doubt that they will ever be subscription based ... but micro transaction based definitely ... we already see the beginnings with the ships skins.
I have no doubts that this will get expanded to the other ship types ... and maybe we´ll get other fluff items to buy as well
(for example things for the inside of your cockpit ... like the bobblehead we already saw in the sidewinder)
