Erm, ok.
My point was that Elite: Dangerous is a commercial product and the suggestion that they need a donation option is tantamount to suggesting that they will fail.
It is like a customer asking the supermarkets to have a donation button placed at the beginning of the till's, so they will work faster packing your grocery bags.

And like anything you find enjoyable, fund it and support it.
And there are already avenues to do this, namely supporting the game by way of micro-transactions.
The donations stage was essentially the Kickstarter campaign, there was no guarantee of anything back then. Elite: Dangerous is now a commercial product and having donations at this stage is essentially sending the wrong message.
If you want to support the games development then buy skins and encourage others to do the same.

I repeat: It is not just a game. There may be people totally uninterested for skin or keychain but concerned only the scientific side .... why not allow it, if they want, to make a donation?
..or are a charity.
This isn't going to happen guys.![]()
Thanks for dictating and deciding that for the rest of us. Again, I'll say it. Since those who jump on here to say no will not be donating. Move aside and let others do it of their own free will. No matter what analogy you use or scenario to stiffle this good idea.
Shok.
More money != faster development. You only have to look at Star Citizen for evidence of this, they have a huge amount of money yet they're not even at what they themselves would consider an Alpha stage, 2 years on from the initial funding of their Kickstarter campaign.
As Robert Maynard points out, If people want to donate then they can always buy skins from the store even if they have no intention of actually using them in game.
Well, I think a donation button is a great idea from my perspective and here's why.
a) I don't want the inconvenience of 'having' to browse a store and perhaps buy something I do not want in order to fund it.
b) If I'm pressed for time, a donation button saves me time.
c) If I had no interest in playing Elite Dangerous but liked the ideas and goals it offers. I can fund it without using the store.
d) being told to use the store and buy for 'others' things doesn't help, and just limits the amount. A donation button offers the chance of unlimited funding.
Shok.
