General / Off-Topic Eurovision Song Contest 2013

I got it made first before anyone else could get this thread... ooh unless there wasn't a queue..

I love this show, utterly rubbish nonsense but what a GREAT excuse to get the kids together collectively mocking some of the daftest talent in the world..

Good healthy family time...

Who else will admit to loving this show!??!!?

Also who do you think will win??

Shall we meet in irc and collectively mock the show LIVE?

Easy, I will put my money on an Eastern European country to win it. The UK will probably come last with most of our points coming from the Irish.

I don't mind the show, some of the acts are really awful and it is always a laugh. Can't believe how daft the voting is though.

Who took over the commentary from Terry Wogan?

EDIT: and will that well known European country called Israel be taking part?

Yes - we usually have it on in this house. Was better when Terry Wogan was commentating - until he really got the **** about the block voting.

I like to put subtitles on - that usually throws up some hilarious lyrics and mistranslations.

Heard a bit of Bonnie Tyler's attempt on breakfast - the bit I heard was hugely underwhelming - so situation normal for the UK by the look of it!

I play Myst Online, and last year we had a Eurovision party. We are doing it again this year.

Here is the Eurovision website http://www.eurovision.tv/page/timeline#All
And if you want to hear all the songs split over three playlists ... http://www.eurovision.tv/page/malmo-2013/about/shows/participants

Here is the Dutch entry "Birds" by Anouk

But I think it is between France and Russia and Ireland

Three countries who may not suffer from biased block voting, can actually afford to host it next year and have good songs.

I get so ed at the UK the last two years...

NO EFFORT C- ... BOO I love the show, up on the projector...

few drinks and the Kids and we take countries each by draw and mark as well...

Fave day in May

Listened to the Dutch and UK entries - both ladies do their better work when singing raunchy rock songs - who fed them both those saccharin songs?

No wonder western europe can't win this contest any more.

I REALLY wish one year we actually TRY to win it!!

THEN my plan can come true...

OUR presenter will be Keith Lemon and anyone really Holly Wiloughbooby would be fine...

But voting would be amazing... he'res the vote from Sweden,... phwoaar I'd smash her back doors in...

I remember taking it seriously as a kid too 14 yo i remember it..

Then with my kids, I kinda took it too seriously with them, and when the UK came 4th I had to spend hours cheering them back up..

NOW we enjoy the whole cheese of it!!

Having listened to all the songs I have my favorites firmly in my head. It’s going to be a great show, just hope this year Eurovision will be a real song contest (not just for neighbours)!

If it was all down to me, the qualifiers today would be:
Belarus
Denmark
Ireland
Russia
Moldova
Serbia
Slovenia
Ukraine

Absolutely love Belarus entry. Will be voting for them today! Sing your heart out Alyona! :)

So Im presenting the Globovision song contest show on Bernard's star this Saturday and I am soo excited... I would love a shot on the big stage.. but I will be singing for the opening ceremony... remember you don't have to leave just because I've sung... I will be Singing at the BEGINNING... please do not leave.

I will have a nice little thread where you can join me in singing and enjoying the wonderful acts this year.. I heard that Diso have another tin foil wrapped entry...

I also love the Eurovision Song Contest and a couple fo years ago it had loads of good songs on it - when the Swedish bloke with his violin won it and that gorgeous woman in the tight leather trousers playing a piano surrounded by fire. That was a great year.

But last couple of years have been disappointing. Mind you its always a laugh.

I wish they would find another commentator though with the downplayed humour of Terry Wogan. The contest needs somebody like that, not somebody daft like the bloke doing it at the moment that I cant think of the name of but I know he isnt that funny (apart from when he was in Father Ted).

'I am outraged at this song!!!! HOW CAN THEY SING F U'

I am sure they are singing.. OK I'll do it F££@$ you f£$@k you f£@$k you...

Was Graham Norton in Father Ted? Didn't realise that.

(Quick search shows that he played as Father Noel Furlong for 3 episodes. )

Uh-oh Uh-oh-A Ding-Dong

So what? She wants her boyfriend of three years to marry her. She's not seriously going to submit and everything she sings, but they do make really catchy lyrics, Susan Boils could learn a lot from this song.
