Sagittarius A* ["supermassive" spoilers]

Wow, just wow. So scary, yet so beautiful. Just think of its size, it holds a whole galaxy together! Nice Post!

Great job, commander Zulu Romeo! Surely the bravest yet humblest explorer I know of. Proud to have you in the FGE. :)

It's a great achievement for sure but is anyone else slightly disappointed that the centre of the galaxy has been reached so quickly? I know it's just a game and such, but the allure of setting out exploring has been rather put into shade for me. I don't know what I expected but I didn't expect it to be quite so quick. a couple of months perhaps, but a week or so?? Still, hats off Cmdr Zion

Yes a little.

I guess the odds have shortened on FD tweaking the damage model for launch to be more aggressive.

yes, kinda.

i actually predicted it a few months ago, but it was more of a joke back then, because most still believed there would be some more complications and unknown dangers along the way.

- Numbers are off, way to few solar masses. should be 4.1 *10^6 or 4.1 Million or at least 1.2 Million. Estimates vary. 10K is a joke.

It says 1.0000 (one) solar masses. Presumably this is to ensure you drop out at the star and not at the black hole as you drop out at the object with the highest mass.

It's definitely tiny though. Betelgeuse was pretty damn massive even at 10,000 LS out. This thing was little more than a dot at that range.

I just want to know how many times you were interdicted while you were exploring the system.

Many times along the journey. Thankfully none in that system, though: everybody there (except myself) was on their best behaviour. :)

How did you like the Risk of going out there. I wonder how much money you will make when you get back to station and sell your stuff.

It's not "when," it's always "if." It's always hope, never expectation.

I don't even know if the Server Error problem that prevents me from leaving my present system and kicks me out of the game every 5 minutes is ever going to go away.

Actually this highlights more problems with the game than advertises its greatness for me.
I mean if we go off on these great expeditions it is supposed to be out into deep dark space alone into undiscovered territory with unknown surprises but what we actually is get is copy and paste gameplay from the very first system with immortal NPCs just randomly spawning and interdicting in the middle of nowhere and without reason or "intelligence" which totally breaks the immersion, makes the idea of any of the galaxy being unexplored ridiculous and highlights the wafer thin depth of the game in its current state.

Suspension of disbelief: maybe they followed him :p

Problem with exploration is, IF it actually worked like in the DDF proposed..with scanning...errors...failjumps...probes ETC. Then it wouldn't just be a 50 - 60 hour grind but an actual challenge. The challenge quite now is simply time and well patience and concentration not to make too much errors in an ever repeating jump - click map - jump - evade - jump - refuel...pattern.

Well - actually the whole galaxy holds the whole galaxy together - since mass attracts mass... ;)

--- EDIT ---

But the possibility of a one man joyrney to the galactic core also highlights some gameplay problems. Currently there is little benefit from working together in exploration - quite the contrary. On your own you can travel faster than a group. There is little need for safety in numbers. And since wear and tear isn´t implemented and offering repairs or refueling to another ship also isn´t implemented there is basically no logistics involved.

It would be great to be able to fit an anaconda with a repairdock for smaller vessels (and a self repair system) - now THAT feature combined with wear and tear would give the natural incentive for a group of explorers to band together around one or several motherships.

Congratulations, ZR - an awesome job :)

You must have been pushing hard in the last couple of days, on Saturday you were "only" at 19,000LY from Sol if I remember correctly. It was great to hear you on TS during the last FGE event. When you dropped into the Pleides Expedition channel to say hello and give us an update it was quite exciting to hear of your progress.

Fly safe, comrade - keep us informed of your progress and we'll send an expedition wing out to greet you on your return.

Including oodles of dark matter :)

CMDR Zulu Romeo may I ask...

a) Does the centre of Milky way taste of milky tea?

b) I don't mean to be rude here, maybe pushy and tactless, but..... "Useless Reptile"??? :D

Good work CMDR.
