When are the Thargoids coming?

When I fly 300/400 ly from home base into the unknown, am I going to be interdicted by those malevolent Thargoid Motherships spilling out their drones?:D

No. At least not yet.

There are no Thargoid ship models in the game at the moment (You can look for yourself, just look in FORC-FDEV-D-1002\Win32\Items\Ships ) so you will not find any in Gamma.

There is however mention of Thargoids in the exe (out of curiosity I ran strings on it and greped), it looks to my inexperienced mind (I'm not decompiling or anything like that and wouldn't know what to do with it even if I was :)) as if Thargoids are implemented as a "Power" similar to the Federation, Empire and Alliance.

I fully expect that area's of the galaxy are locked out at the moment where Thargoids will "spawn" once we go live (or sometime afterwards). Keep an eye on the ships folder, if you start seeing Thargoid models in there then they're coming...

Oh they are out there, just waiting for some poor unfortunate explorer to stumble on them, trigger them, and unleash them on the galaxy as a whole. Sleep with one eye open.

1. I hope they are brought into the game.
2. They should be revealed in a series of updates as small discoveries for players to spark interest and then conflict as the infestation is discovered.

I hope they come soon, its not Elite without the thargoid threat.

also I hope they are VERY hard to kill, not their smaller ships but their big ships should be like the Shadow vessels in B5, very VERY hard to kill. So most of us run away screaming. If they are easy to kill, theres no threat.

I wonder if this would be one way of slowing down the current rate of galactic exploration - there's already been sour grapes over how fast Cmdrs have been able to get round.

I wonder if they will have the ability to pull ships out of HP? That would make it nearly impossible for Cmdrs to team up - it would always be a 1 against many fight.

I wonder if will get pulled out of hyperspace again, perhaps they'll mess around with the hyperspace sequence to show usbeing sucked out into witchspace. Like another exit appearing off to the side and your ship starts to being pulled from its trajectory, the red lights flashing, sparks flying, "Frameshift Drive Malfunction". Oh dear...

There were no Thargoids in Frontier (just never-confirmed rumours that they were in there somewhere, but rare). The storyline gives an avenue for them to be removed from the game, perhaps to be replaced by another threat - after all, it's 30 years too late for a race of aliens named after a Kenny Everett sketch. If they appear at all, they should ideally be rare and restricted to witchspace (which means witchspace needs to be implemented...)

I be surprised if they arrive by the 16th. If they do they have done a great job of hiding their existence.

Are they just going to appear one day mid save.

There was talk of locking their part of the galaxy up until it was ready. But it looks like that idea went out the window.
