Because that's far too namby pamby. Somebody has got to be right and somebody has got to be wrong. And I'm going to be fairly and squarely on which ever side wins.

After thinking about this Diso is an agricultural world, so maybe the pronouciation should be more in line with agricultural sectors that i know of in the UK, so it has to be pronounced with a west country/Norfolk style accent

So im throwing Doi-Sowe into the mix too now :D

As a member of the league of cunning linguist's I would like to correct you all,

Like Milngavie and Strathaven the spelling is misleading, Diso is pronounced Dahoo, the Eez/ees is softened..

You may thank me later!!

The locals just shorten it even further to simply Do!:p

Perhaps in the interest of galactic peace we SHOULD rename it DISCO that way all the factions will be united in their hatred for the new name;):D:p

In that case, I propose we take it one step beyond in view of all the factions kicking off and call it D.I.V.O.R.C.E instead.... :)

Just my additional bit to this topic on pronunciation. For a bit of fun (and since someone asked), I recorded a sound clip of how I (or rather in this case a fictional character called Marcan Rayger) pronounces some of the planet/system names in the Elite universe. I hereby petition that Reorte, Orrere, Leesti and Diso are pronounced like this. ;-)

I read the wiki on elite and in the section about procedural generation it explained that David Braben had to delete an entire galaxy as the random generator had called a planet 'A*SE.... :D be interesting to see how the Lave Radio boys would pronounce that, probably Are Say :p

So where's the official statement from Lave Radio on this travesty? We demand to be heard. Episode 11 of Lave Radio needs to be the turning point in our campaign I feel.

I'm forming the Committee for the Representation and Appropriate Pronounciation of Diso Undersigned by the Nominated Group.
