Rare Commodities List!

What if the rare items needed one to become friendly or ally with the station? I'm totally enjoying hauling these long hauls of rare items and hope ordinary missions would also include longer missions at some point. Grinding between two systems is not that fun on a long run...this is much more enjoyable.

This. I was thinking this earlier. It's okay the way it is now but this would be a much better option than just straight nerfing it. I don't think any of the naysayers would have a problem with it, and I like the idea of having to work for good routes.

Maybe the naysayers have not seen those 'Donate 4 million cr' missions :p Everything in this game is so darn expensive, a few special long distance runs makes the world of difference. When they have an ASP or greater, they will sure want such trade routes then, more of them too ;)

I don't mind progressing through the ships taking a long time, but its not just that as I posted previously. Cost per death in more expensive ships becomes massive too, so its a risky business. Flying an Asp at the moment with 1m insurance and 3m in the bank means I can die 3 times and that's my lot, back to a sidewinder.

O.O My god these commodities are incredible! Taking a haul of 16T in a Hauler that only has a jump range of ~15Ly (25Ly unladen) still works out like 245K cr in well under an hour. Granted I would say that sounds a bit much, remember that for starters aka myself, it took a lot of traveling, grinding, and planning just to get enough cr for my vessel and cargo, plus getting to the location of such commodities.

I think that it may be a bit much for some of those with well-off starts in the beginning, but these will definitely help the majority of players catch up and hopefully not get too rowdy about pricing; as some have said there is a lot of things out there that can cost a CMDR some pretty pennies, so having little rarity trades like this really don't hurt in my book.

I must say these are a great ideas. It has taken the grind and made it more fun. Traveling over 100 LY is simply wonderful!

Can anyone tell me two systems that sell more than 80 of each commodity? I know CHI Eridiani does so there is one already ;)

Good stuff

The googledoc link can be exported, edited and re-posted if you can edit excel files.
This way anyone can update it and post their own additions!
I'd like to see it on the first post and you have permission to do that if you would like.

"Naysayers"? Oldest ad hominem in the book?

So am I supposed to call you... what... how does one call anyone who ignores balancing in a game because he likes that what he does is the most profitable / powerful etc.? One who likes the easy way to advance in a game?

You are the naysayers that do not want a good future for any others, if you dont admit that rare trading is way overpowered.
- 300k / hour: exploring.
- 500k / hour: bounty hunting
- 800k / hour: mining

Trading is already way better than everything. Because it scales with cargo size.

It's about
6000 Cr. / ton at an average route, 15000 cr./ ton on an excellent route.
So a Lakon 6 with 100 tons can already make twice as much as any other career.
But hey, lets just have something where one can make a guaranteed 45.000 Credits / ton. So every hauler earns more than every combat ship, exploring ship, mining ship.

So a Python "needs something to pay the insurance"? And this is supposed to be rare trading?

I fully expect the payout for this to be cut by a factor of 4 by Tuesday evening. Having a profession that isnt even tied to the galactic background simulation pay 15 times more than exploring is just wrong.

Oh the joy has gone. trying to map my own routes and now none of the systems names are working. How can they not have the names right?????

Well as soon as this becomes common knowledge expect to see CMDR pirates waiting outside the exits of all these stations ready to take down traders that down bother with shields or armaments so I think this will be the real balancing act.

45K CR/ton? I haven't seen that. Seems closer to ~16K CR/ton and that's with a 150LY haul.
I'm not saying balancing isn't needed. That's a given for all aspects of the game.
Personally I think rare goods aren't as O.P. as some think. As for trading, I could see a reduction in profits as well.
I have faith that Frontier are going to try to make the game balanced and I am not going to get bent out of shape at this point. YMMV?

I play solo. No balancing there, then.

Don't get me wrong, I like flying about in a 5.5 mil Cobra, and an A drive Lakon with 96 tons of cargo and having 8 mio in the bank.

I'd prefer it to earn this kind of money to come from stuff like carrying much needed construction material to a terraforming planet, though. Or exploring a metal rich system with 80 planets. Not by doing a side quest that is not even tied to anything meaningful.

That's per hour. I do 15k/ton and take a bit less than 20 minutes for my 140 ly route. So 15x3 = 45.

I must have missed the /hour part.Makes sense. Don't be too surprised if they limit the available a bit more or slide the curve up further distance.
It's tough to balance. As you mentioned, it's a sliding scale where larger cargo holds make a great deal more.
I'd like to see fewer available and having to include other 'pick-up' stations along the route to fill your hold and rotating goods by distance. It makes adds a bit more thinking to an otherwise dull repetitive chore.
I'm interested in seeing more working these rare goods to give FD more data to be able to work with.
Enjoy!

Thank you all for your hard work. It's this kind of comunity spirt that makes a game something special. Here is what I found with the data you guys shared. ASP with top FSD and 82 cargo gets me 1.4m per trip. It takes 30 mins to do. Here are my waypoints.

Yes my friend. But what really helps is voice attack. It took me quite a few hours to write down the systems, programe a call sign into VA for each and every system on the way. It makes things really fast. I can call the map, select destination and then call the system on demand. It's a real pleasure once set-up. The only problem is I could of had one less jump and saved a few hours frustrating time as many of the systems are not registered in the destination search. Very annoying. But I did not give up. Just found others.

The trip is 180ly but you can see I had to go slightly off line. But it is a very efficient route. You can keep going in a line as you fly straight via the sun and the next waypoint is in front of you.

Can't wait for the new galaxy map waypoint thingy. That should do what I have now.

Good stuff
