Was tidying up the Den this morning and managed to stumble across a couple of wonderful relics from the past... The receipt and guarantee slip for our beloved BBC B Micro....

Has anyone else still got theirs?

Are you a hoarder Mr Snoswell?

Drives it home what an outlay personal computing was in those days. You can get a laptop/tablet/ps4 for cheaper than that now!

Mines probably still in its box..........Funny enough just thinking about one of the demos flying past Saturn's rings the other day!

What's that £400 in today's money - something like £1200? That'd buy a pretty decent gaming PC these days.

I might be... ;) But not to excess :)

The prices back then meant you really did appreciate what you were getting... Now things are so cheap they've become both disposable and lacking in soul or appeal.

Good to see you didn't forget the cassette lead...that should really have been included since u spent £399:) that was a fair few squid back in 83 :)

I still have the cassette player, the two original leads, the welcome pack (box, booklet and tape), the User Guide and the small coffee table I used to have the Beeb on... The only thing I don't have is the original TV!

I might get them all set up again for another flashback pic :)

The reason my dad bought the BBC micro was because there wasnt many games for it and it was used in my school. Then just after he bought it Elite came out and I still didnt get to play it much because he played it all the time!

I spent most of my time playing text adventures like scot adams and used to write my own. I also used to get free games from Computer weekly because I reviewed them I dont think they realised i was 11.

For my olevel project i wrote a stock market analysis program on the bbc micro. The code still generates some decents trades even now!!

The Beeb was an excellent computer, let down by some of the most cack handed management imaginable.

eg. They produce a great machine, so what to they do, produce a couple of totally incompatible rivals.

With stupidity like that, they could only have come out of Oxbridge!
