Fiction Elite Anthology: Tales from the Frontier

Go to elite-anthology.co.uk/news and you'll find interviews with the actors Penny McDonald and Toby Longworth, plus extracts from two of the stories which also feature Allen Stroud's original music.

You should also know that the audiobook includes Arto Heikkinen's illustrations for the stories as album art. As Darren says, the A-Book should be available now.

I've gone through 5 or 6 stories, I have to say that my favorite so far was Easy Way Out. That one really stood out for me, but I enjoyed all stories so far.

Easy Way Out was funny, dramatic, intense, depressive, just amazing. :) Loved it!

Quick question: From all other books available on https://www.fantasticbookspublishing.com/store/elite-2/, which one would you recommend? And yes, I will read all of them eventually, but would like a recommendation which one you really liked? I'm thinking about Lave Revolution, Mostly Harmless, Reclamation...

Thanks!

Wow, what a great review, thank you :)

Of the other books, so far I've only read Mostly Harmless and Elite: Reclamation, but really enjoyed both of them (so that probably doesn't help you much sorry). The stories are very different so well worth sticking both on your list to Santa though.

@mayallremebrking has Kipper got back to you yet? He's normally online a lot - I've heard some of the Audio books and they're really well done so I hope you get your copy soon.

No unfortuantly not, ima patient dude tho, i rly just cant wait to get them. Thassss alllll

Helloooo... I'm not involved with distributing the audiobooks, you need to contact fantastic books directly I'm afraid, I'll PM an appropriate email address!

I guess if you like Easy Way Out then I'd recommend Mostly Harmless - it has the same single character focus, mix of humour and dark details.

Having bought the audiobook for Mostly Harmless i decided to give the Tales a go...

I'm much more impressed with the stories featured in this compilation .... the voice acting is top-notch, the authentic sounds add immersion as does the composed music
The stories are a good variety and i was generally very impressed with them
A question of intelligence was probably my least favourite
Research Purposes was humorous
Children of Zeus was solid

Overall while slightly expensive i found the audiobooks i've enjoyed much more than i think i would have the written word version.
I found the fact that many of these stories are unhappy endings or at least highly poignant was a pleasant (odd i know) surprise

Yesterday's GalNet entry:

The Silver Comet
The bounty hunter gossip columns are abuzz with a reported sighting of the fabled 'Silver Comet'. A long-standing superstition states that "anyone who sees the Silver Comet will die," and it seems this latest sighting will only serve to reinforce the myth. The report came from Quiness by pilot Johanna Meister, Deadly rank, who has since disappeared - last sighted in the Alioth system.
The Federal Navy dispatched a taskforce to investigate the mysterious comet’s appearance in Quiness, although so far they claim to have uncovered no evidence to support Commander Meister’s claim.
This news hasn't stopped independent hunters from getting curious. Silhar Bradeus, head of the Bounty Hunters Guild, has offered a hefty reward for any information on the Silver Comet or the location of missing pilot Johanna Meister.

Seems that we have a continuation of Cmdr Meister's story in game! Absolutely love stuff like that, it adds to the lore and depth of the game. Great stuff! I hope this will be something more than just a GalNet entry and we'll be able to get involved :)

+rep, Frontier :D

I finished this book a couple of weeks ago and keep forgetting to drop a note about how much I enjoyed it. There are some excellent short stories in the anthology and for some reason the short story format seems to really work for the ED environment. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking to fill in the ED universe as it contains a wide variety of topics and writing styles. Great work by all the authors.

I left a review at lunchtime (5* of course!) on amazon. Really enjoyed all of the stories and I really did like that all of the authors had different styles and a different take on the ED universe.

Highly recommend the audiobook versions of these official fictions...

This collection has 2 different actors (i was going to say readers but that is doing a gross injustice to the tremendous performances they provide)

Both have a different style but provide a wide range of voices to the characters. Coupled with custom score and official E:D sfx make these so immersive
They provide a great feeling and enriching of the E:D universe and for me enhance the game as well as providing a lot plain enjoyment.

For many of these stories they are by no means 'happy ever after' affiars ... they result in a considered moment for each. But i found this refreshing and a little jarring to the normal sci-fi books but in a positive way

Wow! I had no idea this book was bought to life by people here! Well done everyone, I have recieved my copy recently and have been working my way through it. Impressed with what I have read so far and by the illustrations inside. :)

Yeah, very much a "by the fans, for the fans" anthology. Glad you're enjoying it! :D
