Oh god, that was stupid !

lol I also have done this soo much, I usually hit reverse and try not to move the mouse at all and hope no-one is coming behind me lol! normally I get away with a 400cr fine if im lucky I get no fine but u gotta be soo fast for that :)

Word of advice, Unbind "Release all cargo!" and keep "BOOST" away from any other bindings and you will be fine.

Lowering the docking gear before entering the station is a good idea. That way you don't have to worry about accidentally hitting the boost button. Hindsight is great isn't it! :)

This is still one of my fave videos. Hope it helps you smile :)

Excellent video :)

Here's one of myself when I was all excited to get out of the dock in my Sidewinder :D

I have been way too cocky with landings - full throttle and then drop gear to act as an airbrake, down thrust, and hit the pad...

Dropping gear before I enter the station is going to be my modus operandi from now on !

I recentley purchased a Docking Computer for my Cobra to avoid such situations, however there have been a few hairy moments when i have had to overide & take control.
The other day for instance the docking computer took me in to the station then reversed me out again!
Also i had a problem when i took over as it just would no dock at all, in the end i had to fly out of the station save & exit.
When i re-logged the problem was gone.
Cheers Konig

I smashed a pimped up Type 6 fully loaded with Lavian Brandy just after exiting Lave station last night. I didn't see until the last moment that a large ship (probably a type 9) was completely blocking the toast rack - for some reason it was bottom-on to the docking bay entrance...

I now have a pimped up Type 6 with no cargo and 5000 CR :(

Boost doesn't work for me when gear is down.

Yeah I think this was changed in Gamma. I forgot to raise the gear and left the station and kept spamming my Boost button and couldn't understand why boost wouldn't fire. Thought my game had gone full , but turned out the was me, and well... the lowered gear was also retarding me... all around!

I feel your pain....

On Saturday I took my Type 6, full load of beryllium, lifted off, gear up, aim for the slot, I'm going to make it, time to speed up. Oh crud, boosted. Not going to make it, double crud.

Boom.

A million credits straight down the pan....

At least having a pimped ride gives you the opportunity of selling a module to give some working capital. Sold the thrusters to release a mil in cash, got trading and was back up to level within the hour, but the shame will follow me to the grave.....

I almost did it last night in trying to escape a scan on hauling 10 tonnes of stolen Palladium last night. Boosted on going into a space station and rammed into back of it whilst madly trying to reverse. Left myself on 12% hull and somewhat battered pride.

Similar story here. Got jumped in SC (I always submit, just for the kills) and managed to destroy my attacker. He dropped nine tonnes of "Rebel transmissions" (presumably they were the hardcopy transcripts).

Anyway, my son was watching over my shoulder, seeing the game for the first time ever. I'd been waffling on about the different flight modes for combat/dock, interplanetary and interstellar travel; the ways of making money; legal status etc. I was about 200m from the station when he said "I thought you needed to be running silent, here."
On the positive side I know he's listening to me when I'm showing him stuff on the PC.
On the negative side it means he now knows that his dad looks a complete when he panics and ends up in among the girders inside the station.

Still, I survived...

Yesterday, I came across my first pirate station. Upon taking off, I wanted to take a screenshot of the red "skulls" on it on the dark side of the station. I pressed [F10], only to realise that I had really pressed [End] instead (both share a key on my keyboard). 60 units of Bertrandite dumped into space! I had never used the container scoop before, so had to figure that out. Then, it was impossibly dark so the containers were really difficult to see. I managed to pick up 5 containers before the rest disappeared.
