What ships are we getting in the 'Big Release'?

I can't seem to find a list anywhere.

And more than anything I want to know if we'll be seeing my all time favourite, the Fer de Lance.

That was always the bounty hunters weapon of choice in the Spectrum version of Elite...

I'm surprised there hasn't been a greater cry for the Fer de Lance. It was one of the 'feared' ships in the original game and when you saw one you started to sweat if you were wanted or fugitive...

I'm hoping for the Fer de Lance as well.

My guess is Fer de Lance, Adder and one other - either the Mamba or something completely new.

That big sod was my baby in Frontier. Strap a large plasma accelerator on the front of it and carry half a planets worth of cargo.

Its hard to even undock and land with a type 9.. how will you fly this one hehe. Or even the mighty Boa from my old days on the Amiga :)

For me they should be putting in more lower - mid level ships. No point in putting in ships costing millions and millions that most folk will take a long time to get to the level where they can buy them. The Fer-de-Lance would be excellent just for the memories.

I think the game is crying out for some smaller ships to bridge the gaps in early-game progression. Some possibilities would be:

- Adder
- Krait
- Gecko
- Moray (good opportunity to do something cool with cockpit design)
- Mamba

The Fer De Lance would be a good addition, maybe somewhere between a Cobra Mk3 and Asp?

Personally - I'd like to see the Imperial Trader. That was my ride back in the day.

I'd like the Fer-De-Lance to be small, sleek and deadly. Then again, I'd prefer the original Asp - a deadly courier with chameleon camouflage, incredible speed and no cargo space. Not the bloated freighter we have in ED.

Unless we see the ships in a patch this week then I wouldn't expect any come release.
I expect release to be a version of the game that has already been tested heavily by the gamma players.
The fact that we've seen nothing in the newsletters about new ships would also indicate no new ships on launch.

Sorry to be a party pooper but there's no point getting your hopes up only for them to be dashed.

Would like to see a krait, or similar, small fighter with the flight characteristics of the eagle but with another utility slot or two.

Love the eagle but it is only really suitable for warzone/bounty hunter and then only in the hands of a good pilot.
If the eagle had just one more internal compartment it would rock.
Also the game says the eagle was discontinued so someone surely produced a small fighter to fill the void.

It is possible frontier will give us the keys to the federal and/or imperial fighters as a springboard into a military career and potentially with missions to go with them.
