Rare Commodities List!

This is really funny. I ran Hecate to Toxandji, 236 LY "as the bird flies", and the price here is 822 CR for Live Hecate Sea Worms. This is extremely strange. I will have to fly even further to see any change in price.

Raise a ticket, may be a clash with commodity IDs or something.

Updated spreadsheet with OP post : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1haUVaFIxFq5IPqZugJ8cfCEqBrZvFFzcA-uXB4pTfW4/edit?usp=sharing
(New systems, Station Name Column, Station Distance Column, Item Column, Price Column, Supply Column)

I think I just watched you colorize that by hand. Mark the entire area and select dynamic formatting or whatever it is called in the menu and just enter a value for "greater than" and set up the colors and it will do it for you.

I was too lazy to search how to do that automatically xD !

EDIT : done, thank you ^^ !

This loop is pretty much exactly 150ly per leg:
Belalans, Hecate, CD-75 661, Ethgreze, Tanmark, Rusani, Xihe, Belalans

You can, of course, reverse the order for the same result. If you use an A* route planner you will probably get a different set of jumps in each direction, just for variety.

Don't you hate when the Nav thing int he galaxy map doesn't allow you to map a route far enough away?

*sigh* Oh well, randomly flying into nothing, see what I can get for my fake pets...

Updated Op with latest finds.
Btw Looks like if a system has a supply of similar commodities it affects the price of the rare commodity
I went to a system that was Agri and selling coffee the price of my Any Na Coffee was unusally low

I made a simple diagram of 150Ly-170Ly routes to help me with rare item trading. Click spoiler to view - it might help you. Enjoy.

Y U Mad Bro? :D

Yeah, you need to have at least 15 LY laden (see outfitting screen). It's only easy once you've figured out a route. It does work, I've made 1.5M profit runs, but if you read my posts here, I've mucked around because the distance thing isn't as advertised.

Just get better stuff on your ship, and you should be able to do this. TBH, doing normal trade runs is as profitable if you find a good route, but this is just less boring because you don't SC as much.

Cool, thanks for the tips! I just got frustrated and had to vent! Seems like if I actually set a goal, that's when I wind up getting frustrated with the game. If I just sit down, pick a direction and start doing missions and stuff, I have a great time!

It seems to me you are doing it wrong or I have misunderstood what you are trying to do. Only the distance between buy and sell station matters, not the distance you were flying. If you fly a circle and sell it near to the start station then its clear that you gain no profit, no matter how many light years you have crossed.
And the profit value is no line but a curve, so you can skip the galactic average for rare goods. They have a sweet spot around 140 LY. At half distance for example you do not get half value, you simply get nothing worth the effort. So if you are not crossing the optimal distance, normal trades can indeed be the better solution for you. And of course you need a FSD which provides 15 LY jump distance if you want to use that effective.

I made a good fortune out of it which I would not have made with normal trades with my current equipment.

Cool, thanks for the tips! My outbound leg was about 20 jumps, close to 130 LY from my start point, pretty much in a straight line...as much as a line one can have anyway. It was the return trip that turned into this bizarre Scenic Route, since I then only had a jump range of about 6.5LY.

However, if I put in Xihe in the search box from my start point, it does only say it is 67 LY away. I am now assuming this is a 'as the crow flies' straight shot measurment, which probably explains why I didn't see the Crazy Mad Money upon my return. I was hoping for a bit more than 500-1K per ton though, but oh well.

And yeah, ship upgrades are obviously needed. Hence, why I'm looking for teh Crazy Mad Money! But, as mentioned, I was doing 'fine' on my local mission runs, so I'll keep grinding those up till I get a Cobra, and then I'll take another look at these rare commod runs.

And, while I have dropped some higher ranked NPCs in larger ships in my Sidewinder and Cobra....the poor little Hauler with a basic burst laser is not a fighter! So, I'll just keep it weapons free, and throw a basic shield generator back on it for a little protection when I have to pull a Sir Robin again...

Aaagghhh!!! I Don't Believe It!!!

I've been hauling between Jaroua and Chi Eridani (1.4 each way) and on the last trip I found I accidentally had brought a cargo of 92t of TEA. Ordinary, regular, TEA!

I must be doing this run too long. I need a drink!

And not bloody TEA!

Yeah, I hate the relatively small range of the navigation tab too. The range is apparently tied to the max distance one can travel with the current amount of fuel. Anyway, what I do when I gotta travel further than that, in the galaxy map I first find the system I want to travel to and set it as destination. I check “fastest route” and wait for the blue lines to appear. Then I pan and rotate until I can make an estimation what system on the end of the bunch of blue lines is about the closest to my destination. Then I set that system as my destination so the route turns yellow. Then I write down the names of the systems along that line. When I’m close to the end of that line, I repeat this procedure and then again if necessary.

It's a pain but no random flying for me.

Both the short range of the route planner and the fact that you gotta write down every single system you’re gonna have to jump to makes me feel I’m playing a 1984 game again, only with stunning graphics. I certainly hope this is gonna improve in future updates!

Tried part of this route last night, but I could only jump 15LY each hop with 40 cargo so wasnt maxed out. Personally I dont think its worth it unless you can jump the distance. I currently have a same system route that nets me 850k / hr in a type 6 (104T) with no interdictions that I will stick with until I get my A drives when I may give it another try.

In another thread a dev said that route waypoints is in the way. He said he played it in a build already so it should be soon. :)

HAHAHAHAH!

I feel your pain. This morning, halfway into on one of my 1.4 route, i started going backwards. Imagine my surprise when i tried to sell my companions back to Xihe for 100Cr loss.

Cheers,
Monter :)
