Light fuse and . . . run! :)

Think you may get a few unhappy responses with this Jabokai!

Well, looks like there are going to be more playing single-player, then.

Disappointment considering multiplayer is supposed to be one of the main draws of the game.

Yup - Approx 40% of the poll (small sample though) want a pure PvE experience, which if you scale that up from the backers that's 10,800 players (from 27K) who potentially could be online and enjoying the MP universe coupled with micro-transactions in the shop. An offline single player would never need to purchase things from there - shrug.

Oh well. Another reason to be much less excited about this game then. Combine with the space is a set of rooms thing and it's lost much of its draw for me.

Agreed, single player is likely to be where I end up now.

I would love to read some of FD's reasoning behind not offering a PvE mode. Seems a very simple request to implement so it must be a philosophical objection on their part.

To be fair, Mike said he hadn't been aware of the PvE/PvP discussion at all so perhaps it's something they've simply not considered. I find it bizarre that they'd be totally oblivious to this discussion though - it's gone on so long and in so many threads! :S

You mean the development team don't have Lave Radio on repeat in the office?! (been discussed several times on there too)

I suspect that many people haven't listened to Lave Radio, myself included.

<nods> Yep... I don't listen either.

Re this thread (in which I haven't voted): you can't take polls seriously, especially with such a small sample.

Frontier put polls in the DDF that have far fewer voters and they use those to affect their proposals. :p

200+ based on 27,000 backers is possibly a higher sample percentage than they use for political elections, proportionally? I say "possibly" as I actually have no clue, but I suspect it.

Regardless of which, anyway and ipso facto what ever...

Try it multiplayer...... if griefing becomes an issue... then go SP.

Dont deny yourself a slice of pie just because it might have a bit of poo in... as my old mother used to say.... she was very wise.

The DDF is a serious (I hope) focus group, and FD need that input. As for the numbers, 200 out of 27,000 is under 1%.

Good point, but not an entirely fair comparison in my view. So far they have used polls in the DDF to extract some coherence out of a few rather heated discussions in the DDF. They have the written opinions of the DDF in the relevant thread to augment the polls. Also, they have clearly stated that they, FD, have the final say in all design decisions. So all in all, I think polls in the DDF play a minor role (I'm not suggesting you claimed otherwise, just thought that your point needed a little clarification since it's in an open forum).
