Why the hell is my game in German now?

Since the latest launcher update my game is in German. I can't even change the language anywhere! Please, let me play in English. What were you thinking FD?
Neither the options in the launcher nor in game seem to have any effect. What's worse, if I try to change the language in game, I get a black screen with nice music but nothing happening.

It's because that hacked torrent downloaded version of Windows you are using came from Germany. Easily fixed by changing it in the launcher.

As I said before, I am German and believe it or not, I find English to be sexy enough for me. I couldn't stand it when my ships computer would say something like "Rrrrahmenverrrschiebeantrrrrieb wird geladen!" PleASE god almighty NOOOOOOOOOoooOOOOO!

I ticketed it.
Had this too. You have to use the options in the launcher and set it there.
If you now set the language in game as well to english it should be ok.

1. I feel your pain, I am German, too, and play ALL my games in English, because even compared with a good translation, it sounds and feels much better this way.
2. Rahmenverschiebeantrieb? This deserves an award for most cringeworthy translation of the century.
3. Now I feel your pain even more.
4. Other games and apps do stuff like this, too, so with my new PC this year, I made sure the first thing I do is install the English language pack for Win 8.1. Luckily all apps indeed see the system as a natively English one, even though some internal Windows DLLs still are German in fact (some system level error message strings are still German).
5. Did I mention that I feel your pain?

Had that, too...

1. Make sure you dont have the config file open in editor.
2. Change language in the options of the launcher.
3. Launcher language should change to english.
4. Close the launcher
5. Reopen the launcher.
6. Launcher should still be english.
7. Start the game

I agree... I'd rather play the game in english. As the rather unfitting translation together with the still English computer voice outs sounds rather odd.

Agreed, but the current translation is even worse: "Frameshiftantrieb" - what kind of pidgin gibberish is that supposed to be? But yeah - with the emergence of german words that sound english but don't mean what they describe in english itself, I've completely lost faith ("Handy" - just cringeworthy...).

Don't forget the Missiontexts in German Version..all in English but the commodity in German.... other weird thing is Kommandeur .....

launcher language: english
game language: german

setting the launcher language to frensh and the game is frensh too.
setting the launcher to english and the game language ist german.

quick fix the language issue:

goto "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Player"

open file "Custom.misc"

look for the line starting with "<Language Value
(usualy 6th line)

replace the parameter with the language you want, so for an example if you want english:
<Language Value="English" />

save file
