Getting to a system a friends in...?

So my buddy is in a system 75LY away from me. I went to navigation menu and typed his system name in and found it, set destination but obvisouly i can not jump 75LY.

Is there a easy way to go at this? Am i missing a waypoint system or something? He said he thinks i might have to map it out manually but thats a TON of work and dont even know if i could do it by myself.

any help would be appreciated!!

i find the best way of navigating long distances is to first target your final destination via the galaxy map, then return to the cockpit and line it up so its directly in front of you. now go to your left side nav panel and select the furthest system you can jump to that is in the same direction as your destination. jump and repeat getting closer every time.

when making long journeys like this its a good idea to have a fuel scoop installed to make sure you don't run out as there are quite a few systems without stations in.

This is my preferred method, although I have used this website: https://cmdr.club/routes/
Route planning should get easier soon, its being worked on or perhaps even already done for a future version.

The galaxy map pathfinding has a limit around 50 lightyears, so another option is to do your journey in 50 lightyear chunks: pick a system in the general direction you want to go, pick it as your destination. Look at the highlighted path and follow it. Once there, pick a new destination 50 ly away and repeat.

Also, buy a better FSD. Longer jump ranges will save you a ton of fuel and time.

The problem with the highlighted path, is that it doesn't seem to take your ships max jump range into account. I often find I can jump over two of the jump points shown... Still, that's easy to deal with...

There are two modes and a slider. Economy mode will find the path that uses the least fuel, and usually doesn't jump anywhere near your maximum. Fastest will take the shortest route with the fewest jumps, but will burn up quite a lot of fuel on those long jumps. The slider lets you adjust the max range of jumps to look at based on your ship's minimum and maximum mass.
