I should really go re-buy an Eagle and just sit inside the docking bay at Gooch Terminal in Aiabiko (a lot of people seemed to start there as well).
Sitting in Eagle, leaning back in my pilots seat with legs crossed on the dashboard, sipping a beer and humming the Popcorn tune as newbies go *pop* against the side of the access corridor and/or get faced with "Lethal Response" for "Blocking the access corridor"

Ah, must start planning my trip there. I'm quite far away.I'm going to be sitting on a docking port at Aulin with Fraps, a crate of beer and some scorecards - giving points to the noobs splattering themselves all over the place.

No really op... You can just go to singleplayer.
Most people use gimbals anyways (auto aiming) so they arent necessarily "good"... Just better kitted and lazy.

I for one never gimbal. I have been using fixed guns so far, prefer high damage lasers and manouverable ships. Might gimbal though when I upgrade to a bigger ship.
No need to worry I'm sure if anything goes down it will be up again in no time.
Anyway I'm on a mission that can't be held back for no man, or woman for that matter, on my way to nowhere fast.
I'll keep a look out for you if you ever decide to come out this far into the void dude.

1. Learn how to dock
2. learn how to shoot straight
The rest is up to you. No matter what though, just enjoy it!

in any case, I don't think the presence of the gamma crowd at release will be any issue.
the possibilites are:
a) the newbies will far outnumber the oldies, so oldies wont make much difference.
b) the number of newbies is same or lower order of magnitude as number of oldies so unlikely problem.

It's nothing to worry about. The setup expands dynamically based on demand. I would put money on this being nothing like the release failures of other online games.
Besides, you might appreciate having someone around to give you advice, that's if you see anyone! My advice is go straight for open play and don't worry about it.
