Rare Commodities List!

Maybe has been nerfed already? I got to Belalans station last night, one which sells leather somethings? Stock was only 18.

I had done several other rares previously, all with 70-120 stock levels, then got to boscovich ring at 00:05am and noticed low stock. I am in a cobra with 36 racks.

Just out of interest, I logged back in this morning briefly and stock was back up to max of 18, so at least I am full now.....

OMG, 30 seconds later, a refresh, and now this:

This means I've been wasting my time flying further to sell stuff because of a DISPLAY BUG

This is a nasty bug, I was not expecting anything like this....

Made my first trip to Karetii - wow, very low traffic out here...

The fake animals from Xihe are worth about 20k here, too, so a nice little run for the hauler...

Z...

Thanks for the Jaroua suggestion, will give that a go later but unfortunately I can't jump far. But the jump list should help a lot. Yes I sell at Kingsbury Dock but never noticed the price bug. I just go into the sell option and see that I am being offered a good price (usually about 16,000) and that the total is good before hitting submit. Anyone doing the Chi Eridani run should be aware there are quite a lot of high tech systems near to it having most upgrades. Qi Eridani and LHS 1197 in particular is good.

I've updated my spreadsheet with the latest stations, let me know if I've missed any. You now only need to re-arrange the columns, the rows will automatically change to match the column order.

I have arranged the first 21 stations so that they form a nice run between 140-160ly on each leg (except Any Na to Bast is a little further). If the row that you are on has a green cell BEFORE the next step, i.e. below the grey line, you can loop back to a previous station. For instance, from Xihe you can loop back to Belalans. From Njangari you can loop back to Tanmark. And from Any Na you can loop back to Tanmark or Xihe.

Of course once you get into a bigger ship, this becomes less useful. What I've been doing in my L6 is, if I am at a station that can only half fill my hold, is find the rare goods station that is closest, and that has another station that is around 140ly from both it and from the current one. That way I can top up my hold at the second station, and sell both lots at the third station. So from Toxandji, I'd go to Any Na (56ly), and then from there to Delta Phoenicis (172ly, and 162 from Toxandji). If, when I get to Any Na, it is selling enough to fill my hold completely, I'd sell my Toxandji loot and fill up again. I'd also check on Slopey's BCP to see if there is a profitable commodity from Toxandji to Any Na, but usually this is small change since most of the systems seem to be agricultural. And Slopey's doesn't have a lot of data at the moment, but I've been entering the rare goods station data.

And to anyone who says this is not really "playing the game", I don't care because it's fun!

I'm getting slightly different distance numbers to you. Any idea which of us is right?

Xihe is good for A-class kit.

Do you find that the supply varies or is it pretty constant? I.E if I goto Lave for the first time theoretically I should see my maximum "personal supply" right? Or if I come back having not traded in Lave for a few days would the supply be different?

I have found strange things, e.g arriving at a station and restocking 60, waiting a few minutes (reading forum / watching movie) then seeing MORE restock like 70. It's rather random. I'll bet today will be an update that reduces the restocking further.

I doubt the restocking reduction will actually help though. All it does is that you'll have to wait longer around a station which isn't really a problem if you have ED running in fullscreen windowed mode and can do other stuff while waiting.

And automatic balancing approach that reduces the profit per distance based on how players distribute a certain rare commodity would be best. So that you need to mix it up and that it will be about as profitable as normal trading. Rare commodities should be a "one off boost" not a regular activity, because otherwise all the rest of the trading systems are useless. Even if they are equally profitable, people will prefer rare commodities because you don't have to think, profit is always the same, route is always the same.

If it's "about as profitable as normal trading" then it won't be a "one off boost". But I agree, it needs to be shaken up a lot. Poor economies should pay less for luxury goods, agricultural systems should pay less for rare agricultural products (or even ban them for trade protection or ethical reasons), etc.

Yeah true. I would describe the goal like this:

Day 1: Galnet announcement "New batch of Xihe Biomorphic companions available! Limited supply per customer!"
Day 2: There is a rush on these items because they offer a profit of profit 15k credits per tonne @ 150ly like now
Day 3: Profits start to go down to 10k per tonne @ 150ly because so many people distribute this item all over the galaxy
Day 4: Profits and supply shrivels up
Day 5: Limited supply run exhausted, commodity no longer available.
Day 10: Prices for the commodity at @150ly have rise again to the old levels
Day 20: New batch of XYZ available!

I'd also limit the supply to a few hundred tonne per day. This turns it into a kind of dynamic version of a "daily quest" like in WoW. You check with the ED community "Hey any rare commodities active right now?". Different commodities are active at different times and "respawn rates".

And overall the progress should be balanced together. I see now way how a bounty hunter could ever make enough money to earn and maintain a python.

This needs to be adjusted in a serious way :

7szdjhni.jpg

1 run in a no shield asp with 120T cargo... Maybe 9 jumps as I'm not even sporting the A FSD yet...

I could do the trip from XIHE to RUSANI and back under an hour an net ~4m Cr./hour easily...

Anyone wondering how I got 120 units, I simply docked at XIHE last night and bought the 59 units available and when I logged today there were 62 more...

All you need to do is sleep in a rare item location every night and start with a rare item run every morning for a cool 2m. Cr. profit every day for perhaps 30 minutes work...

Optimise it with the best FSD and a fuel scoop and I doubt the ~150LY run takes longer than 15-20 minutes one way...

There is something whacky with the sell price. Last night I dropped off some 'Old Smokey' for a friend of mine to pick up and sell as he has absolutely no dosh. He could sell them for ~18k per ton, while I could only sell them for ~16k per ton. This was at exactly the same station, in the same instance and even the docking pads were next to each other

spreadsheet updated too. You can now find the new systems, but also factions color for systems, new datas for stations distance, commodities price or supply, and some good links !

very nice, I've added to link to OP

Awesome, only 5 locations with relative clear destinations left:

gilyasignatureweapons - Gilya
kinagoinstruments - Kinago
vanayequirhinofur - Vanayequi
wardiangrowpods - Wardins?
wuthielokufroth - Wuthielo Ku

Nearly there!
I got half way through 16 lyrae yesterday , thought I had found a new home base when I saw Green dock, but no weed there:(.
I guess we will have to check No systems again when Elite: Dangerous 1.0 comes out

This is probably related to online vs solo play. I have never found seen an issue with the price but it's likely related to network issues / delayed authorization from the server. Best to ticket it.

Has anyone tested these rare commodities as stolen goods, does there price still increase on the black market?
next time I see a cmdr in game I might ask him to take a few off me to see what it does.

Are you sure you're comparing the selling price, and not the profit? Since he got them for nothing, I'd expect his to show 100% profit.

Interesting point - I'd also like to know whether NPC pirates know the local value of these goods. If they scan you then they know if you are dropping junk or the good stuff, I wonder if they take into account the local value of rare goods, or galactic average. Probably they use the average for all goods when judging whether you are dropping worthwhile loot.

Nope, I did this with a friend (with normal goods) and the profit he got was still based on the price I payed.

Obviously for him the profit was 100% but I am talking about the profit shown when selling the goods.
