Gamma 2 download complete - Just hanging at the wireframe sidewinder

Good news. My download is complete.

Bad news. The client appears to just hang at the wireframe sidewinder. Gonna try a reboot for fun.

Gamma 2 won't even load splash screen before crashing for me, hope they sort in good time this time around don't wan't to not have access for weeks while they sort , especially after the "will be wiped and now not debacle "

Still no joy here. I briefly got in this morning when I changed the display settings from windowed to fullscreen but then I reset my save to start fresh and can't get back in. same issue.

Next stop is an update on my Radeon drivers.

Still nothing. I have completely re-installed and re-downloaded the game to the default location and I just get a hang on the wireframe ship loading screen.

This is on crossfire AMDR9, gonna try the AMD omega driver set now see what that does. I have flipped crossfire on and off, disconnected the X52, all manner of stuff but nothing is making any difference.

Very annoying but this seems to be just me as everyone else is reporting "awesome"!

I've got the same issue now, first I had issues even updating my game as the launcher kept crashing all the time (figured out that killing the AMD Gaming Evolved Application stops the launcher from crashing), after finally updating I get in and try to launch and get stuck on starting the game at the wireframe ship loading screen. Running on R290X as well. If you ask me they need to improve their QA Team, obviously not enough testing is being performed before these releases to allow such major bugs slip through the net to release, this game is not going to be ready for release next week, it will be a disaster if they go ahead with release with so many issues affecting mostly AMD graphics card owners.

My AMD laptop GPU can only handle 720p for ED. If I set it to border less window and set the resolution of the computer to 720p, then Gamma 2 WORKS. If I try border less with computer resolution at 1080p, it DOES NOT WORK

This.

Still can't play :(

Thanks for the Bump Dr Wookie, this is relating to a freeze at the wireframe ship loading screen with AMD Radeon R9 290 cards. I was perfectly happy before Gamma 2 but since yesterday no joy!

Anyone else seeing this or just me and CodeBreak3r..

anyhow, next stop, selective startup with nothing else loaded....

try this fix - edit your AppConfig.xml
Code:

<Network
Port="0"
upnpenabled="1"
LogFile="netLog"
DatestampLog="1"
>

</Network>

shouldn't it be

Code:

<Network>
Port="0"
upnpenabled="1"
LogFile="netLog"
DatestampLog="1"

</Network>
You Can find your AppConfig.xml file in the same folder that you have installed the EliteDangerous32.exe

I've tried disabling AMD Eyefinity, tried it in Fullscreen, Windowed and Borderless mode, always same outcome where it freezes at the wireframe loading screen. Have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and End Task on the application process in order to quit out. Running out of ideas, any suggestions?

AMD Radeon R9 290X (Catalyst 14.12 Omega Driver).
Triple Monitor 24" Displays at 5760x1200 resolution.
Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe Motherboard.
Intel Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50Ghz (Turbo at 4.4Ghz).
16Gb DDR3 1.6Ghz RAM (2 x 8GB Corsair DIMMS).
Dual SSD's RAID 0.
Saitek X52 Hotas Flight Controller.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, waited 20+ years for this game and WANT TO PLAY! :)

Yeah same here. just updated them this morning to see if that fixes it.

Do you know where the game files are stored? I seem to have a copy of the FORC-FDEV-D-001 folder under the program files(x86)\Frontier folder and also in appdata\local\Frontier_Developments

There is also a folder called "Frontier Developments" in that location as well.

I am loathe to nuke it all out again because I have tried that once already today but...
