General / Off-Topic Virtual Reality film/episode?!

Asking here cos you're all sci-fi geeks! ;)

My girlfriend is adamant she remembers an older (80s/90s) film with a virtual reality theme - something about a couple leading an almost perfect life (although the woman was having a virtual affair so it wasn't SO perfect)... the woman was very attractive. It turns out it's an old couple with some sort of VR/implants thing going on. She seems to remember them lying on beds in different rooms, the old man being disturbed by a doorbell (or something) and taking off his helmet/implant thing.

Searched Google and cannot find anything relevant, despite this site - http://www.allmovie.com/characteristic/theme/virtual-reality-d573 - seemingly having anything relevant!

I'm sure she's making it up (Google never fails!), if you know otherwise, please help, it's driving me mad trying to find it! :(

OK lawnmower man was VR related in that time frame..

I think the issue is it sounds like a total romance movie.. unless they get eaten by some creature I doubt I will know it..

Think you are thinking of The Sleeper, which was a Woody Allen "sci-fi" movie Psykokow.

It sounds like an episode of either the Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits as I can't remember any Sci-fi film covering that topic other than The Lawnmower Man.

She loves the Rift! :smilie: That's what got us started on the conversation and her recollection of the film.

Can't believe you sci-fi geeks haven't got it yet... unless it was just her imagination... quite likely, she lives in a world of her own! ;)
