Hardware & Technical HOTAS - To Twist or Not to Twist?

About to take the plunge and buy a HOTAS setup for E: D. I've decided on the X-55 Rhino. The stick has a twist axis which I guess people will use to yaw but I think I'd prefer to get a set of pedals to do this.

Has anyone got the X-55 with/without pedals who can give me some input on this please?

Personally I prefer the twist over pedals for yaw. Of course the pedals offer more functionality than just yaw axis but that's not of interest now.
It's really very subjective and needs some getting used to when switching from twist to pedals. In the end it doesn't make a difference just for me it always felt a little more natural to twist.

Also don't forget that pedals add quite some extra cost.

Twist. Definitely twist!

During a dogfight, I find it easier to Yaw with pedals. It is harder to line up a shot with the twist while yanking and banking. The twist axis is just overload for your hand. That's just my opinion, I have used both.

Though I have to admit it's been a while since I used a joystick with twist, but once things got hairy it always caused me more trouble than good.

Just ordered a HOTAS last night, but will have to get pedal ultimately I figure... going to see if I can map the YAW to something else and see how it works.

No idea about ED ( I use pedals anyway ) but the difference between both shouldn't be that huge as in a atmospheric flight simulation.

I have an X52 which also has twist yaw and its awesome. I never accidentally twist it even when in intense battles or anything like that. I'd say try it and then if you dont like it get pedals, if you do like it then save your self the money/extra usb slot etc.
