Newcomer / Intro I'm Scared To Touch Anything

This is crazy, I have been waiting years to get my hands on this game. Now its downloaded and installed, I have done all the tutorials but I am just sitting in the Dock scared to touch anything in case I break something - get a grip boy !! :(

With the sidey you can't do anything wrong. You always get a new one for free. I think i crashed 2 or three at the beginning before i started to get a grip :)

Hey, it doesn't matter in your freebie Sidewinder. Crash it and get another (you will sooner or later anyway)! Just remember not to shoot the station or fire in the no fire zone. It can be a getting your reputation back :)
.
(You don't loose rep for crashing btw :))

If you do end up FUBARing your rep, you could always do a CLEAR SAVE from the options menu. Certainly a reasonable option if you don't have that much in credits, yet.

Yep, you can always clear your saved state and start again from fresh if you really mess anything up. We've all broken our ships (or sometimes other people's) at some point.

You get a new sidewinder for free. As long as you fly one without upgrades - crash it, burn it, try flying into a sun, an Anaconda, self-destruct or whatever else you fancy!

Might be most constructive to learn the controls though :) But dont sit stifled in a dock.... launch and "blaze your own trail".

Have fun Commander!

pick some easy jobs off the bulletin board - courier runs to deliver a message, or where they give you the cargo - you don't need to spend any cash for trade on these missions, a they give you a reason to go somewhere

also make note of commodities that are in High Supply and significantly below Galactice Average price
- this usually means you'll get a profit
- compare at other systems where it's in High demand and above Gal avg price
- once you visit other systems, the trade data will be stored for 24 hours and you can then view commodity flows in the Galaxy Map / View section

Braking things = learing. You can always clear your save after a day to start with a clean slit. There is nothing you can brake that you can't fix.
So press launch and enjoy :D

Yep, some new pilots experience this on their very first unaided flight as a full member of the Pilot's Federation. I recommend trying something simple - like undocking, flying a round a bit, and docking again without breaking any regulations that result in your immediate destruction.

Good luck!

I think you meant "clean slate":)

Or Did He :D

You and everyone else will be in the same boat, Like Duckfather said, dont shoot the stations or Feds and your grand everything else is learning.

I still sometimes play pinball when flying through the letterbox (Station Opening)

Welcome Commander!

For pilots with agoraphobia there is always the option of using the peril-sensitive sunglasses. Fly blind - fly relaxed!

I still remember the first time I tried to dock.. didn't remember from the original games that communication with the station is key.. just saw a bunch of empty landing pads and decided to grab the most convenient one. That ended poorly.

I started playing in beta, and I've yet to work up the courage to take half the missions or enter a conflict zone.
I've gotten pretty good at landing though :D
