Hi All,

So Frontier decided not to do a data wipe. I could see that the general population of ED testers were giving them grief for being indecisive about this and tbh in my opinion, anyone griefing them about that shouldn't have signed up to test.

Anyway, im neither here nor there about it. I don't really care if they did or didn't wipe, but... I was screwing around testing out some stuff, expecting them to wipe and that they are not, I don't really want to start my world in the position that I am currently in.

I want to start with everyone else, on an level playing field and I want the opening screen of the game to come up as it should when I first login to the final release. Will it be possible to get my account and every set back to default?

Cheers

You don't need a request for this. Just open the game, go to options and click "clear save". That should reset your current stuff to default and will let you get a new name.

even better :) In my last game I had a problem with the job boards. Nobody would give me any jobs to do on a brand new game. My ship was a eagle and I said I wanted to be imperial. Was that a bad combination? Did nobody trust me because of that?

So the last newsletter confused me a little. I played ED to death in the premium Beta and have just played every now and then since the end of the first Beta due to the wipes putting me off a bit. The last newsletter said that they will not be wiping at the end of gamma until 1.00 does this mean that there will be no more wipes at all or will the odd wipe still happen once the game has been launched? If there's no more wipes then I'll be able to jump in and get exploring again :)

Because "us people" has only pre-ordered and read newsletters, not actually played the game and thus does not have your and other players insight and is therefore worried.

So come on and ask questions and obtain the knowledge rather than opening with an ill informed rant, you'll get a far better reaction that way ;)

I don't normally play in open, considering it for my days off on the 17th and 18th to give the new players a helping hand if I see them getting picked on.

I did post on the gamma forum about this, I think on the grounds of an even playing field(everyone starting of the same) there should be a wipe.

Somebody on the other forum posted also about exploits being used that are still in Gamma, they will continue to exploit and have an unfair advantage.

Just play solo. Nobody will take advantage of you and you'll be playing the exact same game without other players. This is not a competitive game, multiplayer is optional, you don't need a "level playing field".

Nobody is going to take advantage of anyone who doesn't want to be taken advantage of. Should frontier wipe the entire game every time someone buys the game further down the line?

If you want to participate in multiplayer content, especially with strangers, more especially in any of the numerous aspect of the game that do actually have competitive features (anything related to warzones, or piracy, or ability to influence commodity markets), then as level a playing field as practical is most certainly important.

Allowing everyone to carry over the relatively easy money from Gamma 1 (even if you completely discount exploits) into a final release game that will presumably have Gamma 2's economy will set those Gamma 1 players far above new players for quite some time. I don't have a very impressive net worth at this point, but it will almost certainly take a new player vastly longer than it took me to get what I do have.

They should probably wipe the game every time they radically disrupt the economy, which should never happen after final release, but has happened quite recently.

YEY! Re-downloaded and playing now. I forgot how awkward it is to set up the controls. I have noticed something different though. I use a Thrustmaster HOTAS which has a 4 way directional button system. In the beta I used these buttons for thrusting and then when I held another button down this buttons became the focus on Target or Sensors buttons etc.. This isn't possible in the same way now and you need to set this up by doing a combo button. Rather strange and confusing but hey! support I'll have to get use to it again.

Also if there isn't going to be another wipe then how will Frontier implement the 2nd ship (the Eagle) when the same is released? I take it this will just be patched in?

I wander what would happen if there was a wipe on release after all... y'know by accident.. <work ex> "ooh what does this button do?"

This thread must go on well beyond release!

Remember, remember, the fifth of November, the wipe progress threat and plot;
I see of no reason why the wipe progress threat
Should ever be forgot.
