REALLY? the cap ships can't be killed?!

Just spent AN HOUR AN A HALF witling down an imperial capital ship only to find that when it gets to zero percent...nothing?? When I take out it's heat sinks it jumps away and I get 50K credits, but when I actually KILL it nothing? It just stayed at zero percent..

This game is released now, missing content is really starting to bug me.

Send in a ticket is the best advice I can give you.

I would if it was a bug, it's just another in a long list of things that should be in the gam by now that aren't. I thought the advantage to crowdfunding was no deadlines limiting what the devs can do?

Probably exploiting the AI and holes in it's defenses.

The same way you kill all NPC ships.

Please read the above.
And how is that "the way you kill all NPC ships"?? I don't see an enemy cobra and find some bug to exploit to take it down, I shoot at it!

cap ships are rare in the elite universe and you can compare them to named npc's in other games that are essential for the storyline.
currently everyone of them has their unique name and place in the elite history and they are in such short supply that if we could kill them we would probably be able to destroy them all in a few hours.

i to hope we will be able to kill them someday, hopefully the faction navy's will beef them self up in the future.

But it wasn't just crowdfunded. They had other backers, the company is publicly traded, and the shareholders have (undisclosed) voting stock. And then there are things such as reporting deadlines on taxes, and other business items.

Now, keep in mind I am in no way attempting to be a mouthpiece for Frontier; just pointing out there may be some real-world limitations at work here. May be as simple as too much blue sky dreaming, and not enough practical experience at such scale projects. It's really a mixed bag of impressions for me.

I can take out its heat vents and it jumps away...it's the same thing surely? It just magically comes back all repaired, and doesn't waste my time. I put up in Beta Gamma because I was a tester, but this is RELEASE day.

I just don't get why they program the health even to go down at all??

Why did you bother anyway, you can't affect the universe right now. That is really broken lol, background simulation not working (see status/influence not changing since 5 days ago).

The reality is funding imposes it's own deadines - staff have to be payed after all. Also elite dangerous was largley funded with other means, private investors and the IPO.

Most likely it's a bug that it should jump out and should not allow you to take it down to 0%. As for effects of blowing up cap ships...I would find it very unrealistic. Some effects would be nice though.

Having release doesn't mean there's no bugs. Report it :)

Because I assumed I would get a cash reward for it, like you do for taking out its heat jumps and it jumping away.

0% doesn't necessarily mean they are at 0 health. Shoot them some more.

I made sure it wasn't at 0.04 or something, I attacked it while it was at zero for a good 10 mins, each other percent only took about 2 mins.

Again, I don't think its a bug, I've ticketed it anyway but I think its just another in a long list of incomplete content.

You don't, I got it's health down to 0, but it just didn't explode. U 90 mins shooting at it, leaving it to recharge shields every few mins and coming around for another pass.

I'm pretty sure they are meant to be killable, but it's also meant to be very hard and require co-ordinated efforts by multiple ships. Could be wrong here.

Ticket it, sounds like a bug. Personally I hope they don't just explode into space dust Michael Bay style. I want them to list and roll out of control disabled and burning, something that big just doesn't go "poof" into nothing.
