Enjoying it much more than Gamma

Feels as good as back in early beta days! :)

Although after updating to v1.00 I had a freeze and had to restart (thinking "here we go....") I was very pleased with how things panned out.

Done lots of travelling and only one interdiction, which I evaded (though it seemed to take ages) and I made a lot of money just doing "fetch" missions - having now built up a comprehensive database of the commodities availability in the surrounding systems.

The biggest challenge was deciding what to do with my hard-earned before logging off. Upping the FSD to one that would transport my Hauler 21+ ly with a single jump?
Upping the cargo bays, weapons - or just about anything else, as the outfitter I used had lots of everything?

In the end, I decided to try the Adder and a bit of mining for the first time. Laser, refinery bought with plenty of cash left for a new FSD, Power Distributor and Thrusters.

I must admit, I was very unsure about the retail release, having had many issues in Gamma, but now, well it feels like Christmas has come early

That'll please the wife, as she got it for me as an early present.

Do you find the Adder's cargo Scoop to be not working properly? In mine ore bounces off even when aligned properly. I've ticketed it but haven't heard back.

Leave the cargo that you want to scoop well under the nose while approaching and then center in the cross-hair monitor and it will work.

Funny thing me as well, had absolutely no issues today. Hats off for FD and how they managed Day 1 serverwise.

Agreed, everything has worked perfectly so far, and the biggest problem I was having before which was lack of missions has been solved. I logged on today with the intention of spending 1 maybe 2 hours tops to check the 1.0 launch out but I ended up spending way more than that. Really happy overall, keep up the good work FD!

Agreed. Had a real blast tonight doing missions and it all seems to work well. One small niggle for me is the font size of the missions, particularly when BD+164B (or some such) looks very similar to BD+1640 to my old and foggy eyes. I know..should have gone to spec savers, but as a lot of Elite players are of a certain age would an option for large print be possible?
Loving it anyway, :)

I was enjoying Gamma, once it was clear that there was no wipe planned. Trying to figure out the indecipherable reputation system has been surprisingly fun, don't know how long it will last though.

Thanks... I did a lot of mining in the cobra, and never had any problems, seems something's off with the Adder scoop. It seems to me when it's all lined up in the scoop it should just get picked up, for me it bounces off the hull a lot of the time...

I absolutely enjoyed playing from 12:00 GMT to about 13:50 and that was the release time and many people played and the servers were absolutely stable.
Yes, for me the game works even better than ever before.
I noticed I started to enjoy the freedom I have now not testing several things because they would have to be tested.
Started my trip to Sol and making money on the fly so I can afford another ship when I reach there.
I will take my time and I will enjoy the ride.
See you out there Commanders.
Hope I find some more time the next days, planning to continue my big trip at least on the coming weekend.

Let me jump in.
I just had about 10 awesome hours of the game. I traveled 200, maybe up to 300 LYs, letting myself to be interdicted and earning some easy money, killed one notorious pirate (they're back in Anacondas, yikes! Watch out, guys!) Smuggled ancient artifacts, mined Platinum, hauled slaves and earned 200k for an hour of just flying about and scanning everything round that spins.

In short, I love you, guys. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy Betas, but this just feels... right. And wonderful.

Unfortunately I have to force myself to bed - work awaits, tomorrow. But after that I plan to get lost for the rest of the week.

First plan? I'm off to UY Scuti! :D

I'm quite enjoying just playing the game rather than testing - 11 straight hours so far :)

Michael

Michael, Go to bed!!!! You and all the team deserve a rest after what you've all been through! Hats off to you and the whole team for such a smooth launch and massive congratulations :)

6 hours straight here, it's been absolutely rock solid for me.

Making a killing bounty hunting at nav points, I'm thinking 'man, these are all sitting ducks' and then a Cobra took out my life support with one burst. That's a bit more like it.

Had to take a break there before my laptop melted...
