The cargo from point A to point B do. The missions requesting a particular ware do not, and require for you to have the credits to purchase them from a different station.

thanks. the mission i accepted was to deliver 3 fish. a Care mission to help feed people. It never told me in the description if it was provided or not for delivery.

The bb icons also help. The canister with the arrow pointing away from it means a haulage mission, (here's x tonnes of cargo, go deliver it to station y) - the two arrows pointing left and right means a fetch mission (go get x tonnes of cargo y and bring it back to me here)

This is my post from another thread:

* Credits earning oportunity . This means, you will pay to buy cargo they need. Deliver it where its required and you will get payed. So if they offer 10.000 reward, you buy cargo at costs 7000 credits, that means for you pure profit will be (10.000 - 7000) = 3000 credits. Sometimes it's not worthy.
Sometimes items that are need on BB (Bulletin Board) are in the station. I had today like 9000 credits reward for delivering 15 t of Hydrogen fuel (this fuel you can find it in almost every station). I simply accepted the mission, went to market, bought 15 tones of fuel, went back to BB and deliver cargo, got me easy 8000 credits.
* Kills mean credits ! ...killing involved, that means you will get ok with that faction and get negative with people you kill (some my guess, not 100% sure).
* Controlling The future ...ilegal cargo. I will not risk it, you may get fined for ilegal cargo, shoot down by NPC ...
* Data Handler ...simply delivery mission, no cargo space needed. If you can, do it all the time.
* End Corporate ..........charity mission. Spend your credits on items, deliver them...all you get will +up in relations with that faction ...
* Haulers wanted ...........this is it. Pickup cargo, deliver it to the destination, get payed.

Might be worth mentioning that with missions where you have to go find & buy a commodity, make sure you know where you can acquire the goods !
I accidentally accepted a mission to bring back 5 tons of clothing. "No problem" I thought. WRONG ! I had to visit 7 high population systems before I found any clothing for sale, so fuel costs ate my profits & I could have spent the time doing several other missions.
It also makes me wonder why clothing is such a rare commodity ? Doesn't everyone wear clothes ? (Or maybe not ? lol ;))

Always look to see if there is a "fine" for not delivering. If you see that you get given the cargo. If its not there you have to source the cargo yourself.

If it was a charity mission, chances are you'll need to go and buy the fish and bring it back.

:) You've probably figured it out by now but Industrial stations are where you need to go to buy clothing. You can also sell them the raw materials to make clothing: natural fabrics, leather or synthetic fabrics.
