So I pick up a lousy 10k mission from SOL to deliver goods to Hutton Orbital in Alpha Centauri...

About 10 minutes now in SuperCruise and I am .21LY out still!!!!

At this rate I am looking at a 30 (edit... this is more like 50 minutes) minute SuperCruise session, full throttle, what is the deal with this ? Tell me I am missing something here...

P.S.

What does the little yellow wire globe mean next to the System name?

The wireframe globe means you have a mission transaction in that system.

It took me around 40 minutes to actually get there. Unfortunately you aren't missing something.

Alpha Centauri is a trinary system, and Hutton is orbiting Proxima Centauri which is, as you now know, a quatre of a light year away from Alpha Centauri A - practically a different solar system.

Either the mission screen needs to show the target station's distance from it's primary star, or we should be able to pick which star to jump too within a multi-star system.

At either rate, whenever I see the AC mission popup I now know to ignore it - which is frustrating as it's one of the few high-paying trade missions that seems to exist from Earth.

Haha, thanks, never noticed this! Well, I am off to see the wizard, the dentist, the doctor, mow the lawn, plow the driveway, what ever other time consuming acts I can come up with - this is not even funny to be honest.

Haven't been there yet in ED. But it is on my todo list. :)
From my F:E2 experience i remember that the first thing i did after buying my new and shiny ASP was flying to there just for the sake of it.

And yeah - it is a long trip. Get yourself a snack.

Its a space game. space is big. Deal with it.

This has put a serious damper on my morning joys of playing E:D ... sure to each their own, but blindly flying to a point in space upon first log in for 45 minutes is horrible to me. Anyway, I will stop complaining, and suck up this nonsense lol, but warning to the rest of the SOL noobs... avoid this station!!!! (unless you have an hour to blow)

As I said in another Place, the Mission Engine should check for those extreme cases.

It then needs to take very long Supercruise Travels into account and at least
a) issue a clear note about the long trip and
b) definitely should yield a much higher reward.

I've been out there with >1650c and >30 Min. rides in SuperCruise over 1.800.000Ls away from the main Sun....
But 0.22LY is really beyond reasonable limits for the current FrameShift Drive. Yeah, hardcore guys can and will do it - but likely not even they'd do it twice ;)

I got conned with this exact mission a month ago. I even ticketed it as it isn't at all obvious that the station is so far out from the main star - I was well miffed, partly due to the damned fine of not fulfilling the mission which meant I kinda HAD to finish it.

The first thing I asked for was a clearer indication on distances involved (and therefore time) OR as another poster mentioned here about being able to select which major body to drop out of hyperspace near.

I installed another game from Steam while cruising!

Rgr that...

I agree 100% - also - I would assume my fuel bill is going to be massive, SC'ing .22LY out... lol 10k, not worth it, would kill the quest, but don't want to lose the rep, catch 22 :-(

The title of this thread made me think of this:

Hutton Station should be renamed 'Motorway City'
