Be careful when popping off Noobies

There's nothing worse than an engine that's lost its story!

Quite funny though. If they'd made it to the nav beacon and were trying a bit of bounty hunting, then at least they were prepared for combat and its consequences. I'm amazed that he managed to get the final shot off so often when you've got such powerful weapons though, eh?

I can't understand the mentality of those who attack such vastly weaker players, in any game. I am complete n00b on Elite, and last night after my very first hyperspace jump I was attacked by a player whose name I have committed to memory*. He shot at me from behind, and I thought OK, why not? I wheeled around in my harmless little Sidewinder to make my dogfighting debut, only to see some colossal ship blotting out the sun - I don't know what it was, but it was BIG. Boost dodge boost dodge dodge jump, and I was away. But he wasn't the last, and I was just left wondering why they bother.

*There will come a day...there WILL be a reckoning. Oh yes.

It's more of a fire line case. When there are many ships pursuing a wanted ship I often have to cease fire because a bunch of ships just flew in front of me.

Noobies blood makes my skin glow...

I'm beta, my home system is now very far away as I have adopted belalans as my current home.

Is it the same starter systems as gamma?

Ah, the Belalans Tobaco and leather runs - Fun times.

There's only polite conversation between Imperial loyalists over at the Sorbago slave revolt so far - it's all very cordial, pipes, brandy tweed and moustache curling.

But if I ever see one of these scoundrels, it's twin beam lasers and missle up the tail pipe.

Wanted or not, I'll eat the fine to swat a bully. It will most likley be a Federal regardless, they are so impolite.

Like you were not a noobie one day... I would really like to see your face when you eneted the game for the forst time and have no idea what and how do to, how to fly your ship and someone just 5 minutes later killed you with something 5 times more powerfull than your ship is. And he keeps killing you all over. Fun as hell isn't it? But don't worry hunter becomes pray as well, either for his victimes or a better hunter.

Oh yeah those times. You know what i did back then? I just ran to the forums and started the thread: "They killed me... how could they. Outrageous!"

I bought and upgraded a sidewinder, and travelled to one of the starter systems. Despite my effort to look like easy prey i haven't been attacked by noob poppers, so I've been bounty hunting npcs instead.

Aiabiko is another starting system (namely mine, and while I'm not a n00b, I'm still in a Hauler). BTW, is there a list somewhere of the starting systems, or are they truly completely random? I would think that they wouldn't want to spread the player base too thin over human-inhabited space.

Anyone that makes the decision to play online, should expect the full gaming experience. Its just dumb to suggest that gamers should treat newbies differently. And furthermore, at what point is a newbie considered not a newbie anymore? I've been attacked plenty of times when I was new and it made me better. Period.

If they don't want to play the game with other players, go solo, plain and simple.

I had a disturbing thought while reading this thread - what if the "noob killers" are in fact, noobs themselves who don't understand the game? Perhaps new players think that popping other players around stations is how you play the game??

I'm half tempted to go to a newbie station and buy a sidewinder there. With all the upgrades :D "Ooooh he fired on me, free season !"

Yes but shooting people at the station on their first day in a stock sidewinder is like kicking puppies - it's just not sporting. Those players will also need to live with the consequences that others in open play find that behaviour abhorrent and are prepared send their ship to recycling.

Let them shoot noobies if they want, but there're still getting the hard end of my boot if I see them.

Truly open game environments without restriction and real consequences to death tend to self-balance quite well.

It'll be a hard lesson to learn then, but they'll learn.

It's not quite the same impact as the guys in Cobra, ASPs and Pythons saying "Oi You No!" with laser fire. Once you get melted down in mere seconds you may rethink your actions next time.

Next time, equip a wake scanner and hunt those dogs down. Remind these folks that there is always a bigger, or more skilled, fish.

Gonna have to join in the patrolling now, need to find some newbie starting points to sit and vigil at.

Any ideas?

Might be the case, and as a bounty hunter in free to pick on anyone with a wanted tag....
