Be careful when popping off Noobies

Nicely said OP.

The game can be very hard to get used to at first, and the newbie hunters are not doing anyone any favours.

If anyone starts getting harassed like that, hit me up - CMDR Flappers, and let me know where you are. I'll certainly come over and teach them to pick on someone else.
Always up for a bit of consensual PvP ;)

Killing newbs!! What sick, pathetic people. If you want to pick on someone, pick on someone your own size. I frankly suck at combat. That's why I trade. But when I get a fully tooled out cargo ship with proper weapons, I'll definitely be giving these low lifes some heat on their hull if I see 'em picking on newbies. Absolutely no excuse for that kind of behavior (newbie killing). If you're bored go hunt bounties or do missions or even haul some cargo. You don't have to haul any back. But you're at a new station with a new news system and bulletin board and have made a bit of coin getting there.

My original intention was to help out if anyone had questions or whatever, but I didn't think unexpected advice right in the middle of docking (yaw 180 to land etc) would be helpful, all things considered. Also I laughed quite a bit, in a kind and loving way of course.

Yaw 180? Only if you have half an hour to spare! Roll 90, pitch 180, roll back to horizontal!

I'm glad someone else is doing this - I've read a lot of threads from people having a great experience on their first time in the game, and it'd be great if ED gets a rep as a place where people are friendly and cooperative rather than standard MOO psychopaths. I'm making my way back to my starter system which apparently has a huge number of new players, in the hope that my Viper and I can lend a hand.

Of course, it probably helps that some of the people on here did their original MOO in MUDs, where helping newbies was considered a high honour...

Game should have a SOS button :) as there is good guys out there.

This is a really, really good idea. I'm not kidding. This is huge. There SHOULD be an SOS button. Something that sends a system-wide mayday and possibly even lets you offer a reward for disposing of your attacker. It would substantially change trading for those in big fat Lakons etc. if when pirated they could send out a distress call and bring in other players (or even NPCs!) to rescue them. It would impact how pirates conduct themselves too if this was likely.

Totally serious here - write this up as a proposal here in the appropriate forum and suggest it. In coding terms it's a lot smaller than many things would be to implement but could have a really positive and interesting effect.

you can do that manouvre faster if you use flight assist on of at the right moments just keep practising

Spawn-killers... Campers... griefers... They are all just the scum on the pond. Once you get through that layer you find the beauty that the depths under the surface hold.

I just wish I wasn't out in Boloo right now. I just finished travelling 60+ LY to meet up with a friend, and there are no other players around right now.

But I agree. NewPop is a stupid thing to do for no gain other than grief. As if a sidewinder/freagle is going to carry enough cargo to make it worth your ammo...

I've suggested something like this before. As a dedicated pirate hunter I'd love to get some kind of beacon popping up in SC indicating a fellow CMDR is under attack so I can drop in guns blazing.

Well yes, but that's quite a handful for someone who is already struggling to land backwards. Yaw is controllable and slow and easy to explain. In any case, I withheld advice to prevent panic or overload. I thought it would do more harm than good.

Edit:Agree with an SOS button, it would be a great interactive feature. Also it could be misused in interesting ways.

Funny... All those threads the last couple weeks with flaming arguments about griefing and ganking and here it is only day two and it's already started..........

where is the staring system is i started in the aiabuko system. i geus every one has a diverent starting system

As long as there's bounty on their heads, killing newbie-poppers (is that a word? I want it to be a word...)

I've always called them "gankers", I was told years ago that "ganking" meant "griefing and noob killing", but apparently that isn't a widespread definition of the term, no-one else seems to have heard it. I like it though, it should be a thing.

Agreed! That's a really good idea. That would allow people to assist rookie pilots or traders in distress. It could really boost player interaction in a positive way (the bad guys would see the sos as well, but then it'd be even bigger firefight for all involved :)).
