Wait a few days before griefing...

... to not scare newcomers.

I just have been griefed by a player showing off his fancy Cobra on my empty one-trip-then-sell Adder. And then again by the same guy, cause he decided to do it over and over again on me. Ok, I am in Elite for a while ago, I can afford new ship, for me it's part of the game.
But newcomers will just ragequit (or at least get a bad taste) cause they get griefed almost instantly.

Yes, they can go solo. But then they'll probably stay in solo.
Yes, they can block. But most will be just unpleased with open play overally cause of this.
So what's the point of griefing? Wait a few days.

Note: It's not a complaint, just a suggestion for other players.

Or they'll nip into solo mode.

Don't get so upset about being griefed. This player is playing the game his way. He'll get a shock when he comes up against a much better player, regardless of whether he's in a cobra or not.

Yes, I understand, and I am not upsed as I stated in the first post.
But as after release there's many new players, they might get wrong first impressions.

As I said, it's just a suggestion to others not to try to scare new players.

I'd like to know the system this is happening, as a bounty hunter, I am not one to turn down an easy bounty, and my full A Cobra will probably agree...

The real question is why didn't *you* go solo if you didn't want to get griefed? :)

Cause once again, Idc if I get griefed. After I realized he's hunting me, I just slipped away in my own way. :p
This thread is about the newcomers, not about me.

It happened in LP 98-132, so no bounty for him there. :p

This is what open world PvP is about in most games - making people miserable. Good we have a decent way to unflag ourselves for PvP plus no PvP lasers that do 20% more damage than what you get just by the grind:)

Well, you did try to name and shame him in a thread that was quickly pulled.

Tbh, shaming him wasn't on my mind, I wanted to warn newcomers.
Wasn't aware it'd be taken as 'name and shame', it got pulled down, okay. So decided to make a general suggestion instead. :p

Well tbh most concern is that before release there was an initiative to halt weapons as griefing for few days. I'm just kind of reminding of it, and hoping players won't go against new ones just cause they're newcomers.
To straight it up - go ahead and grief me all the way, I'm not new and I got used to it, both in Elite and other games. :p

I agree with the sentiment OP - have a +1!

Better would be to not attack a "Harmless" Sidewinder - Players can start at any time... (And where's the challenge in beating the most basic starter ship)?

Help them out if they're in trouble and they're more likely to stay in "Open" play if they see there's more benefit to Co-op.

If they go solo, they may stay there...

*Edit*
But if they shoot first... All bets are off ! :D

If there is some griefing going on, then come on here and tell us where it's happening (without mentioning the commander doing it), and you may find that a few vigilantes on here will go there and sort him out :)

Roger that, and I apologize for this little misunderstanding. :)

What about turning this on its head? If someone kills a sidewinder belonging to a new player, they experience ship destruction with minimal consequences because they get it back for free minus any upgrades and cargo.

If we wait until they're all in cobras, and they have to pay a few hundred thousand credits the first time they're destroyed, they'd be a lot more put off.

I'm not excusing anyone who attacks clean player sidewinders, but it's part of the game and those players do have the solo option, or even go solo, fly a long way, then go back online.

I took out a bunch of wanted player sidewinders and eagles earlier so they've probably learned something from the experience. For me, wanted is fair game, but others might have different morals.

Since Open, Group Play and Solo play are all connected. Here is how you get away from the griefers. Simply Play Solo mode for a while. Venture out into the galaxy away from the idiots. Once you have gotten away you can switch back to Open Play. There is only one save and all your progress will be there no matter what mode you play in. :D

Pretty unlikely. I suspect he's used to it, and knows well when to run with his tail tucked 'tween his legs.

The way FD has made the game the griefers should eventually realize it isn't worth it. I don't think they want to grind for a better ship, or for the top components so most of them should be easy targets, and once they've had to pay off the insurance several time they may think twice about that line of foul play.

Well i gave this game one more shoot today. For sure i stayd and will stay in Solo mode (dont realy know why there is a mutli Option), i have enough Trouble trying to learn how things work in this game and i dont like griefers in any game especialy when you can lose everything (this is just a no go for me in any kind of mmo or multyplayer game). Not to mention These strange NPC assaults or trying not crashing in to sun everytime when i leave Hyperspace (this is by far the most stupidest Thing in the game leaving Hyperspace everytime just a few clicks away from the sun) why i cant choose a planet or Station in a System and leave Hyperspace there?

I allready lost (im a noob and only Play since yesterday) a full chargo worth around 60k today thanks to bug after starting from These stupid rotating stations, i speeded up a bit the game had a short lag or something like that and the sheep spedet up without possibility to break an BOOM it Crasht into the wall of Station 1 sek after could control the ship again, thanks for that. And yes it was nearly all my Money i had at this Point (i had only 10k left and needed nearly 5 or 6 hours to earn this Money...)

There is allready enough trafic around the stations and in SC so why i should want more risk (loosing my chargo) when im just trading things between stations and i dont like to wait on every second Station an half hour just to get a landing permission (i have tried Multi yesterday). They should have just release as an normal solo game that there would be no Need for beeing allways online just to Play a solo game.
