How many kills to increase elite rating?

So I've collected over 70 bounties but I'm still only mostly harmless. Have they upped the kills significantly over previous elite titles?

They say that they have changed the way the ranks work so that it is based on 'relative skill'. You will rank up quicker by tackling higher rated opponents.

Yes, Im novice @ 150 kills.

depends on level of your oponent. some got competent around 250 and expert at 500ish. me competent after three hundred and still not reached expert at close to 600 kills. master seems to be 1500ish.

anybody know for sure combat bonds and assasinations count too? or only bounties.

I'm still Harmless :p

But in fairness, I've never taken any combat contracts nor assassination ones. The only ships I've killed are those that pulled me out of FSD, as well as those random ones at USS's that are WANTED.

In my right panel my kill count is still 0, so I dunno what specific conditions I need to fulfil to get that count to go up.

Thats not right....if you are killing wanted ships these should be logged and count towards your combat rating.

So to have 0 sounds like something is wrong.

I've turned in some 205 bounties or so and am at Novice. Novice came quite some time back, so I expect I'll hit Competent soon.

I moved from Harmless to Mostly Harmless after bringing in about 20 bounties, but I only started bounty hunting a few days before launch and had been playing for a few weeks by that point.

Also, I completed my first assassination yesterday, then checked my stats and it was showing 0 assassinations. Haven't checked again since then, but I expect it takes the game a bit of time to figure out what you've just done.

Competent at 550 bounties, 50 bonds and a dozen or so assasination missions.

Here's to hoping rank scales with relative rank of oponent. And not payout. Combat bonds are waaay tougher. Pay waaay less. No need to add insult to injury and have them count little to your rank too!

Way more fun to fight an Elite War Cobra and an Elite War Eagle at the same time. Versus the usual pushover bounties. By the time those Elite War versions have lost a ring or two on them shields. A Pirate version of the ship is already dead.

In the old Elite you needed 6000 kills to become Elite. Won't be surprised if they took that number over to ED.

By the way, I can't seem to find the number of kills I made anymore in my stats screen. It used to be on the reight panel, below your bankroll. Where do you guys see it? Can you post a screenshot?

Novice with 71 kills. I think it ticked over at about 60 for me, but there were a lot of big kills / much higher ranked kills in that total :)

You do know that scaling by relative, not absolute, rank of the opponent means that targets get progressively worth less the higher your rank is, leading to the point where you possibly need to fight big, high value pirates exclusively if you want some reasonable progress at the higher ranks.

Gladly, I believe, it is measured in absolute ranks.

Right panel Status, scroll right thru the Reputation right sub panel to Statistics.

I must be blind, I don't see a unified kill count anywhere in this screen. Only separate indicators like bounties claimed, or assassinations. Could you post a screenshot to clarify?
