It was called gamma. Nothing from any earlier phase carried over. The gamma was always intended to be a headstart for backers and other people stupid enough to preorder. That was widely advertised.

Sure, there were some exploits in early gamma, and sure, it might have made sense to wipe the galaxy for release. But why would it have been necessary? Some people who don't deserve them have Asps, so what? They don't compete with you, they don't interfere with you, so why are you (still?) complaining? Reset your save and participate in the Triple Elite race.

No issue really as we had been wiped on numerous occasions throughout Beta and there was never supposed to be a wipe between Gamma and Release, there was a possibility raised of a Wipe just in case of major Bug.
We are still waiting for all our goodies as well, so again a none issue.

It has been said numerous times, this game is not a race as in first to 10 million credits wins, It is just not that type of game.

I do not suppose you would be to happy with a wipe in the New Year when we get a bunch of new players join, just to make it fair for everybody of course.

That was a intense discussion also in the forum during gamma phase, when it was decided by FD not to do a wipe. Lots of arguments pro and con.
Some even took the decision to do a volonteer "clear save" before release, some not. Me not.

Reasons: Why should I do it? Should we allways do a wipe whenever sombody joins the game 3 weeks after release, to equalize conditions? Would you? Don't see a difference there, honestly. So, we had the chance to start earlier and we paid even more money for it.
And all release starter has advantages by this, as the beta/gammas sorted out some bugs for you

So, I think its a fair situation over all.

It would matter to any player, having been given gamma access and an indication of no wipe, who did not wish to wipe. Any player can choose to wipe their commander - emphasis on choice.

I wiped on release and have wiped another 3 times since then. Others chose not to. Their decision has no effect on me at all.

Nobody insisted on anything, and if they had, FD would have done what they thought was best anyway. Personally, I wouldn't have had a problem with a wipe.

Anyway no one insisted on not having a whipe we were all used to whipes and played the game with a sidey many times from the begining . More times than you will have to thats for sure. If they had whiped non of us would have worried overly anyway , knowing the game as we do It would take a couple of days to get 10 times more than you could aquire in the same time period. Therefore would you rather we just waited a couple of weeks so dont feel left out or something?

same here, wiped myself on release. but thanks to the experience i gained during beta and gamma i think im still pretty far ahead from anyone who just started out.
and since elite is more if a survival game experience is whats important and not your wallet balance, and experience can't be wiped unless i would suffer a extreme head trauma.

Actually!......You can......For a while at least, with Frontier offering cash prizes for the first to Elite level ( basic start that is, Sidi and 100 creds)

I am a bit dim witted.

Please explain to me, like you would a very low IQ human, how would US having whatever stuff we carried from "2 weeks advance" makes you enjoy your game less ?

How can your own progression in whatever activity be hindered by the early backers having their stuff ?

Please... I am dim witted regarding the logic behind your comparisons and even if we all wiped I am sure a big chunk of players would already be flying their favourite ships and it is of note to say it is not "bigger the better", more a sense of practice makes perfect, especially regarding combat.

I'm guessing you know some scams then. I started gamma with a Cobra and 4,000 credits. I've now got a Cobra with a few upgrades on it and 150k credits. Or perhaps I'm just not very good at this game...

Scams lol , thanks a lot, I guess you had better report me then so FD can investigate my account then hadnt you? If you would like to know how to get that amount of cash in two days I could tell you but if you didnt work it out in Beta, Gamma I see no reason to spoil your game. I give you a clue , one run of 160 ly in a 40 cargo cobra nets you 700 k credits a run . Not only that but I can watch TV at the saem time for most of it.

Its not that your not any good its just that you dont do it. It isnt a scam its a way of making lots of credits easily with patience.

Look at it another way: those of us who started in Gamma also had to play with the bugs in Gamma. I ended up wiping my save upon release as a balancing issue with reputation had made me public enemy number one. It was quicker to restart, but I lost weeks of play.

Oddly, I started with 40,000cr in the bank after choosing the explorer start point. Sold my Eagle from the off as I already had a brand new Cobra and thus started with 80,000cr. Not that I'm complaining.
