Do Not Install nVidia Driver 347.09 if You're Using Oculus Rift

Hello Commanders!

nVidia's latest driver (347.09) has caused issues with Oculus Rift support for the game, so we advise you to not download this currently, or roll back your driver update if you have already done so. Nvidia are aware of the issue and we are communicating with them in regards to this, so hopefully this will be fixed soon. In the mean time though, playing of their previous driver update should allow you to continue playing like normal.

Thanks, Ashley

It's a beta so not everyone will be downloading it. Of course it does state "Best gaming experience for Elite: Dangerous".......

What the..? My latest driver is 344.75?! Ive pressed check for updates but it doesnt update.. this is a Go Straight to source NVidia website moment right?

edit: just checked the nVidia website and the latest driver is 344.75...now im properly confused :/

On that note, what exactly did the driver break? I used the driver with my DK2 last night and besides the issue with getting the Oculus to show proper 3D (not side by side image) and the Color Banding I was getting (Hint, plug in the External Power for the Rift). Everything worked great. The way I got the Side by Side issue fixed was swapping the Primary Monitor around and then changing the monitor choice in ED. It took some fiddling but everything else worked fine.

The only thing that is broken is DSR doesn't work on the Rift anymore. It doesn't give working higher Res choices above 1080P for some reason. Outside of that, 4.4Ghz 3930K, SLI 780's, Max Settings. The game is beautiful.

Since this beta driver was released - though it breaks VR in ED - I'm encouraged to see that Nvidia are aware of - and looking to support - the Rift; bodes well for the "VR SLI". :)

My primary screen is 2560x1440 so setting the Rift as primary is a no go due to the lower res and dersktop icons getting scattered and the other faffing about that needs to be done all the time.

Extended mode and secondary display has worked best for me in all the games and demos I've tried anyway so that's what I'm going to stick with.
Glad to hear that FD and Nvidia are communicating on this.

I installed it and it worked fine for an evening but was no quicker. Then I remembered that installing a new driver disables the SLI so I turned it back on. At that point it all went dreadfully wrong :) The oculus started showing two pictures side by side. And I just couldn't recover from that so had to remove the driver with the remove-all tool and reinstall the latest non-beta. Worth a try, anyway.

The glitch with SLI an the Side By Side Picture in VR is fixed by changing the Primary "Selected" in the Right Click on desktop -> Screen Resolution -> Make this my Main Display Menu (pick the Rift, or if the Rift is already primary, pick your monitor.) Making thr Rift Primary doesn't have to stay permanent as a reboot will force you to change Primary again. It seems something about the driver broke VR from initial boot for the Rift settings in ED. (If you look at the Graphics Options and have the Rift selected upon booting up without cycling Primary monitors, the Refresh rate and a few other options are RED instead of White. Once you swap Primary to which ever it wasn't from bootup, and select the Rift from the selection in the Graphics Options in Elite, the options for Refresh rate and such are White again and that's when you know it will work once you hit apply.

I do hope this is fixed in the next update/driver release of course, but for now, once you get the process down, it really isn't that hard to swap around an get it working normally. Once you have it working, the game looks and runs great with this driver.

That driver has now moved from Beta to being a main download, but still causes issues with the Rift. I know because I just installed it, and my Rift doesn't work correctly with E:D anymore.
I'm going away for a few weeks soon anyway, so won't be able to play E:D for a while. Hopefully it will be fixed when I return.

So I'd recommend Rift users avoid that driver, even though non-Beta users will be prompted to install it ('Best experience with Elite:Dangerous' was my temptation).

Same here. I just installed it to see if there was any difference to the beta release. Same issues as before (separate full images per eye), so I've rolled back. The graphic settings were showing the refresh rate as 120Hz for the Rift display. Odd.

I just got the OR today and finally got a picture in ED, but it seems as if the pictures are being sent to the wrong eye. The outer edges are in 3d and focused but there is weird overlap in the center for me....is this what everyone is getting ?
