Newcomer / Intro Welcome to open play "Die you Nube" , not much of a welcome

Thanks for positive replies guys, look forward to meeting some good guys out there.

will be back in multiplayer when I join up with my other nube friends who currently are finding controls more difficult than I.

Play in group mode, Mobius being the obvious one that springs to mind. Freindly players not into PvP. Feel free to add me(same name).

Cheers 'n' 'ave fun mate.

A game mode where you can "opt in" to PvP, perhaps by accepting a dual challenge or accepting a PvP oriented NPC mission (one on one or wing v wing etc) would be good. Then people who don't want to PvP could still play in open. I mean you know, just to feel the cold of Human contact every now and then.

Big fish eat little fish.... that's the way of the world.

So you're saying you're a fish?

Also I;d say, get yourself over to Empire territory where you'll find a better class of person.

Yeah, and you'll very likely become close friends with the other slaves in the household you work in. ;)

I've logged quite a few hours since release, and haven't had any griefing issues yet. But I'm not sure how many real people I've seen out there (no idea how to tell person from NPC). Other than one friendly hello over comms while in a station, I feel like all my encounters have been NPC's.

Don't give up on open-play yet. Like you said, all online games are exposed to some of this. But it's a really, really, really big universe out there. The places with griefers should be few and far between.

Human players icons on the radar are hollow,, a triangle shape means they have their weapons employed. Quite a few people have posted in the past only to realise they are being killed by npc's not human cmdrs.

Sorry OP. I've not experienced the same thing you have. I ventured in to OS for the first time last night expecting to get pirated by more experienced players but it didn't happen. I spent a good few hours, playing and only got interdicted once - by AI!

To be honest the whole concept of the game is around "play your way", if people want to be a pirate you need to expect it and anticipate it. They will get their come uppence as their bounty increases and they get targeted by players going down the bounty hunter route. Try sticking to safer systems where you are more likely to see security forces that will help with any pirates attacking you.

Sounds like a sucky experience. I've yet to run into a griefer, but I have made a point of upgrading my weapons. Doesn't help much on a Hauler unless you fit a missile launcher, though... :D

Yeah, not a great way to be welcomed into the Galaxy. Come back to Open when you feel like it...it's not always that bad. And it's been my experience that many "kids" are actually "grown-ups" who act like complete tools because they are hidden by the anonymity of the Internet gaming world.

I'm flying around the systems surrounding Ross 210 and am interdicting players for the practice of it... if they are clean I let them go... If not then I collect the bounty... my idea? Try to keep the levels of player and NPC pirates as low as I can for the other playes trying to make an honest living.

Also I;d say, get yourself over to Empire territory where you'll find a better class of person.

haha, that's too funny.

On a more serious note - OP, let us know where. WARNING: Do not name WHO (It's again's the name and shame policy) but DO tell us where...

I've got an upgraded Cobra Mk 3 and an itchy trigger finger that's only satisfied by collecting Bountys. If they are griefing out there, they're getting bountys, and I want them. In fact, I think it's time to mount a Frame Shift Interdictor.

Problem is. Theres nothing to do with others players at the moment. Most of activity is flashing lights at each others, crashing or killing.
You cant share bounty, cant do same missions dor reward. Not so much encouragement for team play. So like in dayz type games, theres one thing to do. Kill each other.
Its great game, but still barebones as it lacks lot of things.

As others have said, please post where you are when this takes place. Even better, alt-tab to the boards while your playing and post where you are and what is going on. There is a decent player base that would love to teach player killers a lesson proper behaviour.

I'm normally a solo type player but in this game I've only been in open mode. The idea of possibly being taken out by other players makes it seem a bit more exciting than it would otherwise be. Unfortunately, I've never even had an interdiction against me once. Not even from an NPC. Hopefully it will happen soon so I get that experience. I'm not really that bothered by curse words or the people who use them. I see no real harm in it unless it's true harrasment where they actually track you down to kill you again, then again and so on. Otherwise chalk it up to an experience and try to upgrade your ship to have a better chance next time. As someone else mentioned, the game is really hollow right now and there's not much else to do in it that's exciting other than kill someone else, or try not to be killed by anyone. I've been sticking to the Sidewinder for now so I won't even be upset if I lose the ship as I'll just get another. Right now the game is an excellent framework on which they now need to hang an actual "game". The 'wings' that are supposedly coming should help a lot, but it would be nice to get some sort of guild or squadron system going too so there will always be people out there who have your back.

It is unfortunate that you first have to experience these things before you can report them, but if you do report them they will be dealt with.
...hmm, actually it was what everybody in favor of singleplayer and/or Group play expected to happen. It was discussed in epic threads and it is the nature of human beings... A faceless noob can't expect mercy, by the Arr-Arr-Pirate faction or "Higher Frag-count equals higher rank concept". Of course people just sit and wait until a noob gets "Wanted" status as he doesn't yet know the mechanics and there you go... fair game.

Seeing how the PVE Group grow in the last 3 days, is a good indicator what happens in open play currently... just saying.
It is how the game is designed!!! If you get wanted in Open Play you are a victim...

New ( Nube ) player started exploring and got hit 3 times and killed by "Die you unfortunate Nube" players on open game.
So dropped back to single player game.

Welcome to open play isnt so welcome for new players.
Guess all games suffer from mindless kids who wait to shoot up new players for little gain.
These guys clearly attacking new "Nube" players for their perverted fun and no gain.

Want cheese with that? If you don't want to compete, go solo.

.....er forgive me for pointing out the obvious terminatahx but hasn't the OP already said that he's gone solo.

In reply to the OP: same here. I see no point, when learning in a weak vulnerable craft, in slogging away to get some credits just to give some young person the twisted satisfaction of blowing me to pieces. In the early days the learning curve is already steep enough. Given the fact that there are no previous saves available and there is no yearly advance premium for comprehensive insurance........Bad behaviour is bad behaviour whether it's in the real world or in a sim. .......IMO

Isn't this sort of behaviour a good reason for there being a wipe at the full release date?

Still if killing Newbies is your idea of fun then go play angry birds

Too bad OP got his first experience this way. Not all pirates are dirty players. I am making a living out of Freeport. I am the most wanted person in Asselus Primus. I wil protect every noob sidewinder with all I got. Feel free to join me and let me teach you how to make a living out of piracy. Add me CMDR Marmion.
