Can you jump to a second star in a binary system?

I'm in a system (LHS 3447) that has 2 stars, by default when you hyperdrive there you start of at the same star. Now that's fine but the stations I'm interested in are orbiting the other star in my case. The thing is it takes a really long time to travel to the other star, now I think the super cruise speed is pretty much perfect in most systems, and I never really find myself feeling frustrated. But in this case its just taking mind numbingly long... I cant quite understand why, other than huge distances I suppose. Has anyone noticed similar behaviour? any tricks I'm missing?

The lore design of hyperspace makes you lock on to the main star of any system. Thats its limitation and how it works. Maybe in 3400 they invent a better one that drops you off at the door of the station

No, unfortunately not.

There was talk by FD of having in-system microjumps, but no word on if and when that will make it in.

Not something that is planned...and by the way, there are MUCH longer cruises out there....

I went to Hutton Orbital, picked up spouse aggro, and was happy. (it's a .27 LY drive)

Are you sure? Literally everyone but you hates it.

Yes, bninary stars can be a hit and miss at times and you can travel between them in a system. Sometimes you will get a long trip to a station. On the good side I looked it up and there are two asteroid belts labeled "Metallic" which is the best if you are interested in mining the most expensive metals. Enjoy.

Thats fair enough, I actually quite like supercruising , the music is pleasant and it feels like I'm in an actual galaxy ...but I do wonder how long it stays novel :p

Yes: you only get the main star. It was the same way in Frontier: Elite II—this is one of the things you need to be aware of.

In particular, be careful about the Alpha Centauri system, because (from memory here!) Hudson Station is in orbit around the other star Proxima Centauri… which is too close to just hyperspace jump to, but a really annoyingly long way to supercruise. Take a timed mission there and, well, you were warned, okay?

Hutton Station missions (In Alpha C, as mentioned) just love to tease - they are typically the only nice low level missions (pay wise) available on Sol bulleting boards, but you may or may not be able to actually get there depending on your ship/fuel.

Not that I think it needs changing mind you - seems realistic to me. I choose not to take any Alpha C missions!

Lol I knew this was another LHS 3447 thread!

I made a video on "why" it happens in this case - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gugEdbzJ0rc

Basically the 2nd star is the more massive one while in most other systems the most massive star is the first star. You always jump in at the most massive star in the system I believe.
