Newcomer / Intro Can I pay off bountys I have anywhere?

Whenever I dink the wrong ship while bounty hunting, do I have to go back to the (heavily armed) station to pay the bounty? Or can I go to an outpost, or better yet, an anarchy system with no body to scan me?

Yes go to the contact menu. You should be able clear your bounty with the pilot federation.
Fines must be cleared in the emiting system but not bounties

You have to redeem bounties in their origin systemss. It says in your left panel "xxx bounty in federation" for example or for a certain faction. You then have to claim your bounty on a location that belongs to that faction.
