Rares no longer being stocked????

well putting that many rares in such close proximity is a design fault then...

I did that round after the previous nerf and it took hours to fill up this lot:

Yes, it's worth ~1.8M but less credits per hour than regular trading maximum (albeit still more fun). Now it might be a bit faster, but it caps at 6×(player's quota of a single rare commodity), so it still won't scale up to bigger ships, and the return trip is almost worthless since you'll be at least 160 LY away without such a supply of multiple rares.
 
I bought some Eranin whiskey and travelled to Sol, but I cannot see an option to sell it on the market, how do I sell this stuff?
 
I've been traveling around Lave and Altair systems for... 4-5 hours now.. Just about to get a full Asp cargo hold.. Utterly bored...
 
I give up bored too.Sold the Asp back in the Cobra.They are ruining the game for me, actually couldnt be bothered launching it.

Yeah, I've steadily lost the feel over the past few weeks. There's nothing "woohoo" about it any more.
No engaging storyline etc doesn't help either for me. I lack the imagination of making "onion head story" any fun. Sure, the word is funny, but going there to trade onion head is just like going elsewhere to trade goods. It all just feels so "meh" lately.
 
It is really starting to feel like FD is trying to force us to do THEIR income of the day, they nerf everything and force people to do the slave missions. Feels the same as back in the betas when FD would nerf each aspect and force people to do the new things.

Feels like it, doesn't it. So much for playing our way - seems that Frontier's idea of encouraging interaction with the story is to make everything else so pointless that you have to do whatever story thing is going on to feel like you're getting anywhere.
 
What you guys still dont get is that everything in a mmo game these days with a high "static" income will be abused by bot programs and probably was already abused by such, cause programming something that clicks every 10min your mouse isnt really that hard. The "static" location of the rare stuff is the killer, make them random every 24 or 12 hours and Frontier could un-nerf it again but I guess its easier to just nerf it like they did now.
I´m all for progressing at a reasonable speed in a game but it should be done by playing the game and not by AFKìng or useing a bot to do your progress. I´m currently doing 120k every 10min by doing a "normal" trade run but I have to play the game and be on my comp all time to make this number.

This was a pointless nerf. Seriously anyone who says they made 6M in an hour is lying, so Is 1M in an hour. at the best spawn it would take two hours to fill 100T. TWO HOURS!. I have had trade runs that were just as profitable, for the same amount of time.

We should alos not call them RARE since some people are very pedantic, we should call them Exclusives or some such. Just like in our real world there are items that are costly because they are only made in one place, in a limited supply. Get over it all.

This is not some amusement park MMO like WOW, also get over it.

I know, but with the systems I know you can fill your Type 6 in half the time as both "rare" traders were in 1 jump range, when filled you do your 160ly trade run whoppdywoo. Got it now ?

well, after trying how much you can gather in one round i have to send a lol in your general direction...

33 rares from all systems in one run and 2 rares would be at its max after 2 runs according to the rules right now, while 3 others would need to visited 16 times (or so) to reach the max, since i got only 1 or 2 each.
that makes 5 jumps where you can almost trade nothing cause except one time its all aggri worlds. you would be jumping around earning nothing while trying to fill up your hold.

prior to 1.02 you would need to make this around 3 times to fill up your type 6, then spend another 20 minutes to fly out 160+ly, another 20 minutes with little profit back.
all in all i would say thats 1,5hours for about 2M profit.

a mod posted in the patch log thread, that he makes 6-7M while playing 2-4h a day, only doing missions in his phyton (i don`t know how that is possible, but thats another point).

now one could argue "hey, 1,5h for 2M is fast cash, i can`t do that amount otherwise in a type 6", but compared to the phyton it actually seems reasonable, doesn`t it?

besides if the whole point of a game is to keep the players in an endless grind (if you want a certain ship+equipment), cause you can`t give another incentive to play the game something is fundamentally wrong with the game design to begin with.
i couldn`t care less about how many anacondas are flying around out there, cause i am playing solo anyways, did anyone that is ranting about making fast cash ever thought about that?
if you don`t want to make fast cash and go the long and grindy way, guess what, its up to you, you are free to do so.

i like to try out things, ships, outfittings, etc. but for that you need cash, loads of cash.
i once tryed a lakon 9, wanted to see if that thing is any good compared to beta times. i bought it, installed upgrades, realized it isn`t any good for me and sold it again. i made 10M loss at that. now if grinding 10M means weeks of grinding, then no thank you i won`t try things any more, especially since the game does a pretty poor job regarding tool tips and explaining ship stats like jump range and max cargo unless you buy it and install the upgrades.

this is not an MMO where you can`t avoid people with big ships that blow you out of the sky just for fun. besides there will always be a bigger fish, no matter what you do and if that is a nasty one you gonna bite the dust regardless...

this was once announced as sand box game, where you can play how you like.... i then wonder why always everyone tries to force his playstyle onto the others.
right now i am pretty much constrained in my gameplay by an overly grindy mechanic that doesn`t even work properly, cause once you step past the cobra mk3 the prices for everything just explode.

Well, as i said a few post up, I´m currently doing around 1mil in the same time in my Type 6 and with the current market spasm I had to search some time till I found that route. I also said I have nothing against a high income but not via a static location were my programmed keybord and mouse or the bot programm written by my 14year old son can do the job for me while I´m pleasing my Mrs ( actually that would be nice tho :D ). I´m with you with the price exposion after the Cobra but the invest for a Phyton and the cost to maintain it should give you the ability to earn more then in your/my Type 6.
 
I don't actually care, since I saw this coming. The rare commodities were thought out as a little extra to discover when touring the galaxy. I suppose it was not the intention to let them become the main source of revenue for almost everyone with an urge to get rich quick. I still dabble a little in rare commodities, especially around Lave, but I suppose I will finally start going to the Empire and make myself a Baron.

It was fun while it lasted, but I was never into it because of the big money (which was a welcome bonus), but because I saw something of the galaxy and could test my combat skills on the way. Now I'll do the same, but for less money and in Empire space.
 
There seams to be somewhat of a problem with some of the comments about rare commodities. ;) There was no problem with the rare commodities in ED but since the last update it is now broken.:mad:
In a galaxy of 400 billion systems each system having between 0 and 20 or so planets with between 0 and 5 or even more docking facilities even conservatively that’s around 800 billion places to land a craft. I defy anyone to travel to them all in even 10 years of there real life. So the fact that you can make a large amount of credits on what I have found so far to be 32 of those make them rare. Also the fact that to make that large amount of credit I have to travel around 150Ly and before the nerf had to wait about 10 minutes before I got my next bundle of rare goods, which was anything from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15 in the store was just fine if that’s what you wanted to do. The system was the only place in 400 billion systems you could fine that product. I have a Cobra Mk III with a 36T cargo capacity I can make or could make around 1 million credits a day and when I say a day I needed to put at least 5 - 6 hour of my real life day into making that, those with much greater cargo capacity will be and have stated it takes a couple of days to fill there cargo up. If your a trader and you don't want the large amount of travel and the risks associated with doing so that's fine to, but please don't complain about those who do.
Remember a rare product that is a renew-ably produced product is only rare to other worlds not the one its produced at.
I think many of the concerns here come from the Alfa, Beta community who are still stuck in the pill concept of the early game environment.
FD please fix this back to the way it was and concentrate your effort in fixing things that are actually broken and stop listening to those who seam not to understand the vastness of this game.:D
By the way the rare goods trade actually made the game interesting in that I was carrying a lot of valuable cargo that other people wanted and would try to take from me, now I'm carrying a tiny amount they seam not to be interested as much.
Before I get all the comments about doing Bounty hunting or Pirating and other types of combat if I wanted to do that I'd be doing it so don't start.

The only way get this is keep things cheap and don't make the game about earning credit to stay afloat, like Startrek or other less money orientated space faring cultures.

You would think in the future you'd not be grinding because high power cheap energy is abundant and minerals/metals are all over the place...
