I hate supercruise

manage your speed better and watch the speed/destination bars on the left hand module screen ( bottom left for those less tech minded)..... match them an your sorted....its the blue zones......

Learn to fly.

If that's too short an answer for you, refer to my reply to another person who complained the mechanic is STUPID!!!1!eleventyone instead of actually learning how to fly the ship. I hardly ever overshoot, and if I do, it's because I did not slow my relative velocity when I was within range of the planet. It's called pilot error.

I'm gonna guess you'll hate super cruise regardless, but the way you're supposed to do it is go at 100% throttle until you are 7 seconds away from your destination, then throttle back to 75%. That way you'll always arrive at your destination perfectly.

Its still a stupid system. I want to dog fight, not spend time on trottle control getting to a station. Its "3300" not "1915"... Also a person who have to spend time listing all the details of his gaming rig is a nerd.

The game lags a lot of in-game tutorials and help. In 3300 did they hear about video...

IT's called the ETA the game tells you is fake because of time/speed scaling.
Shut up you "pro pilot". I know how to fly, i know the problem is with the scaling in the last tract of your flying path because of, again, space/time scaling.

As it is now, it doesn't work because it won't allow you to really control your ship, because you really can't set your max speed or minimum, because the game "slows you down" by scaling you down.

But i know a pro pilot like you do not care about how the game mechanic behavas according to the software. You'd fly a broomstick to Mars in real life if they'd gave you one, right?

Gunship, I don't think you understand just how BIG space really IS! Even traveling at multiples of c (the speed of light) it can take a while to go from the star, out across the system to the planets. If you're not really into space-travel or flying, maybe picking a space-flight simulation was a bad idea for you?

But honestly, I think you'll enjoy it more if you don't overshoot all the time. All you have to do is point your ship at the destination and put the throttle in the middle of the blue area so the indicator itself turns blue. The computer will automatically control your warp speed and keep it at the optimum setting for your destination. Once you get used to that, you can experiment with going full-throttle for the first 75% of the journey, and then bring it back to the blue for the last 25%. You should then come in for a nice, controlled approach to your target where you can drop out of warp at about 500km (just after you've gotten the "safe disengage" notification from the flight computer) and request docking clearance and be home in time for tea. :)

I like super cruise and hyperspace. They help with the immersion of space is big, really big! If you want a game to take you straight to a dogfight, then you want a basic arcade game, with no thought about the mechanics of getting anywhere.

can I please just get to my destination rather than all this going past it turn around 5 times before I manage to get there.

Hi Gunship.

Pay very close attention to the "ETA" style countdown shown under your destination...

1. Stay at FULL throttle until that countdown value reaches 0:07
2. Throttle back to MID throttle at that point.
3. Fine-tune your throttle until it is at a spot where you maintain 0:07
4. Hold that throttle all the way to your destination, until speed drops < 1,000 km/s
5. You can then throttle up again to save a hair more time, if you want!
6. When distance < 1000km, Exit Supercruise.

Once you've got that down and second nature, revise Step 3 to ride "0:06" all the way to your destination. That's close to the bleeding edge.

If it drops to 0:05, you stand a fair chance of over-shooting. Consider deviating a bit to fly an arc, using the extra distance to peg it back to 0:06.

Good luck out there!

What manual? The sidewinder owners manual is fairly skimpy on details and the community made one also lacks many details because they obviously do not have access to all the information. Tutorials and documentation are a joke so far. We are all PC gamers here so Frontier knows how much we love a good thick manual and one is sorely needed. They have an excellent track record for documentation with all past elite games so hopefully they will keep that tradition alive as this game needs it more than any past Elite.

Trust me; it's heaps better than the original Elite. At least you don't have to spend 10 min getting to the station from witchspace.

Just a sec, could you actually get out of witchspace? I managed to survive the thargoids but couldn't warp out, thought I was dead.

On my Spectrum I used to force entry into witchspace to kill Thargoids for fun.
The key was to ignore the Tharglets and go for the motherships first, after which the Tharglets became inactive, and could be scooped and sold for 50cr each (as Alien Artifacts).
That and having a military laser.

Getting back to normal space was just a matter of initiating hyperspace again.

As a suggestion, supercruise is very similar to the LDS drive from IWAR2, except with LDS you had full control of your speed at all times, and it was completely seamless so it was much more enjoyable to use. Perhaps the team should put a few hours into that game to see how it's done. It felt much more kinetic because you could go to the maximum speed really easily, and slow down at your own pace when you arrived.

Do not ask for the removal of entire game mechanics just because you have not yet mastered them. That is absurd. You are doing it wrong!
There are several ways to approach your destination in supercruise. But when you approach to fast, just do a single loop before you overshoot to get rid of your excess speed. This also reduces the chances of being interdicted. I always approach too fast on purpose. I almost never get interdicted.

Although OP is getting a lot of hate he does have a point, sort of. Super cruise is a pretty tedious way of getting around, especially in large systems.

ah, you wanna dog fight, hey bud, have you tried something called War Thunder, dog fights all day long, no throttle problems and you can always see your opposition...

One advantage of the nice long run into your destination, it gives you time to earn credits from those that interdict you. Blow em up and bank the profit.

Another poster one to ignore list. Gunship. Learn some manners.

Sorry you are wrong! I started in L3447 and my eagle is there too, it takes me 10-15 minutes to supercruise from jump to any of the starports, they are all 110,000ls from jump!!

I am going to have to sell my sidey as I am fed up going back and forth to that system, so I will need to find another that has shipyards. I have failed missions because they gave me 26 minutes to complete them and supercruising takes me longer than that!

Please fix Supercruise now! Its clear only the fanboy backers like it, the rest of us dont! Its not difficult to fix, just at least double the speed. One or 2 minutes is acceptable no more please! At the end of the day players will get fed up and leave the game in droves and nobody wants that, we have waited a long time for this game, but I bought Battlefield 4 last month for £40 I hated it and uninstalled it and wont play it again, I do the same for all games I dont like, i havent the time to play stuff that isnt good/I dont like.
