Large FPS drops.

Ok, so it's seem that it's really related to AMD card :( That will maybe fixed later by FD, but right now I can't wait, I think I will try to change to a 970 ^^
I'm also looking to use supersampling to improve the visual quality, did you try it with the 970 ?
I have a pretty similar config so I will be interested to know if one card can handle this.

I haven't tried DSR yet, but will do later tonight. I'll update this thread with how it goes.

Well I tried out DSR tonight, mainly 1.5x, 2x and 4x. Even with 1.5x and lowest graphic settings, excluding the OQ slider, it wasn't able to sustain 75fps while sat in a station, so I didn't test much further, except tried out the 4x setting, and although the framerate is too low to be of any use, you can really see a huge improvement in image accuracy, made it hard to go back to 1080p. While running 4x and all graphics on medium except AA, AO and Blur being off, it was able to do around 45-50fps, although this was only while hanging around a station, but looks like, as long as they scale decently with SLI, then you should be able to sustain 75fps for the most part.

2 980s in SLI are allowing me to hit 75fps at x3 DSR

Thanks for the information ! I finally ordered a GTX 970 :) Another one will maybe come later if I am too blown away by DSR (that a big risk ^^)
About DSR, if I understand correctly, 4x is like running the game with 4k resolution right ? (and 1.5x is like 1440 ?)

Very nice. Is that 75fps for you basically everywhere, or do you see some dips in say asteroids or busy stations?

Yea, I've never been much of a fan of Anti-Aliasing, didn't think it made a bid enough difference in most cases for me, but with the Rift, it really changes the game, DSR is a very nice feature, and has also put SLI on my mind. Great, a week ago I wasn't even thinking of a new GPU, and now I'm thinking of a second one.

Running the 4x DSR on a 1080p display is pretty much like a 4k display, as far as GPU requirements are concerned, as its trying to render at 3840 x 2160. If you have a system that can run games in Rift mode at that resolution, you'd be able to run the Rift CV at whatever native resolution they end up with, along with any 4k version they may release eventually. This would be at 75fps still, but with 90hz being pushed, which will make a big improvement, then you'd have to factor in an additional 16% or so GPU power to be able to push 90fps.

Good going on the 970 purchase, but I'm warning ya, if you check out the image clarity on 4x DSR, you're probably gonna have the same issue as me, with then wanting a second. :D
