Do higher quality versions of the thing scan faster? Or does it just improve range.

I'm to cheap to buy a better quality one, so I'm asking if anyone has experience with a rating D/C+ version.

Higher quality versions improve range, time is always set to 10 secs as shown in the item description..

Yep. Note that at the moment the outfitting panel rounds the range so it can be hard to tell the difference, but class A scans from 4km out, class B scans from 3.5km out, class C from 3km out etc.

so the 21M kws as only 0.5km advantage? (yep yep 21.000.000 credits ^^)

who would go for such a high price for so low advantage?

Ever tried to use the KWS against an eagle or viper? I spend 3/4 of the fight just trying to keep them in sight and in range for the 10seconds. Just upgraded mine to 4Km

The KWS really ought to be a passive module, like the discovery scanners are.

I've had a KWS fitted to my Cobra since I bought that ship but I don't know, it just doesn't seem to be working.. or at least show signs that it is. I scan a lot of wanted ships with it but nothing seems to happen, I would have thought if it found other bounties on that ship it would at least tell me, atm I'm not sure if it's not working or I'm doing it wrong.

Discovery scanner are both passive and active

Oops, I didn't actually notice it always says 10 sec. Dumb question then, cheers.

All the thing does is give you extra bounties to claim, in different jurisdictions. It won't increase the bounty of a criminal in your current jurisdiction.

I.e. you kill a guy after scanning him in a Fed system, but with the KWS you also get whatever bounties he has in Imperial and Alliance systems. Of course you have to travel to those empires to actually claim the extra bounties.
