PC TO TV

I sometimes play on my aging 42 inch plasma using an HDMI cable for video and coaxial for audio into my surround sound system. It can be difficult reading text, as this old beast only does 720p (not like my card can do much more anyway).

When I show the game to friends, I play on my LCD monitor and dual screen it out to the plasma. It has actually made for a nice way for me to avoid direct interaction with guests as they can watch the me play the game while oohing and aahhing. Leaving me to avoid any unnecessary small talk while not angering the wife for being missing when we have people over.

Trolls should not fall in love with extroverts....ugh

There's a trick to getting the best out of your TV that I'm surprised so few people know it: name the HDMI channel you're using "PC" and, on most TVs, to will act as a monitor, pixel-for-pixel, instead of as a TV with overscan etc.

I run a 52" Samsung LCD using just the VGA plugin and pipe the sound out of my pc to a Yamaha HTR-6063 7.2 Dolby receiver via fiber optic digital out. That pumps the sound out to the 7 Polkaudio surround speakers and the 2 12" Polkaudio subwoofers. I have been using this setup for 5 or 6 years now and I have to admit that whenever anyone comes over and sees my PC gaming setup, they are floored lol. It proved to be quite costly though. I have approx $1500 into my PC, $1000 for the monitor (Half price when I originally bought it. Was listed at $1948.00) <--- left the original price sticker on the base just to mess with my friends lol. And almost $3000 in Polkaudio speakers. But for immersion and playability I have an absolute BLAST!

Edit: I run in 1920x1080 native.

Pc specs : 1090T Black edition AMD X6 @3.2
8 gig ram Kingston Cobalt Blue Gaming
SSD drives
Geforce GTX 650Ti 2 gig video

Dont tell me that, it was a buy something or bust at this stage.... whats wrong with it?

Nothing's wrong with it, I didn't mean to make you feel bad it's just you could have saved a lot by building it yourself, and could have a higher spec machine for less than what that cost.

You are paying over the odds to have it pre-built basically, but if you don't know how to build pc's this is just something you have to put up with I guess.

I'm sure you will love it, just for next time maybe think about building your own PC and you can get an extremely powerful machine for half the cost of a pre-built system.

I built mine from scratch having never done anything like that and it is surprisingly easy if you take your time and enjoy it :)

Nothing wrong with it, ignore the trolls. Pretty much every pre-built machine will be more expensive than a custom built machine.

I was going to get a custom build and it was cheaper but they couldn't do the timescales I needed and there is no way I was going over xmas knowing I couldn't play my game. That would have been a disaster. The rest of the year I work myself to death, so this is my xmas present to myself for this year and last!

Good luck to you, I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot :) Merry Christmas! Sorry for the rudeness of some of the people here :(

Im self employed, I just dont have the time to do anything else.... I work most weekends as well so I dont have a lot of choice.

Yup. I HDMI to my audio reciever to get 5.1 sound. HDMI from that to my 42" 3D TV.

can only do 720p as my laptop struggles with 1080p.

The 3D looks good but would be better at higher res.

Managed to map all controls to joypad. What a mission.
